Clyde played with the lighter as he thought over the idea in his head. He hasn't smoked in over half a year now, remembering his last time vividly.

He sighed, placing the lighter back down. He didn't want to end up on the streets or something, he's been sober for almost a year now, one silly relationship wasn't enough to break that.

He stood up from the criss-cross position he's been sitting in, stretching his back and exposing his stomach in the process.

Clyde looked around his room, "I've gotta clean this shit up," he sighed, smoothing out his clothes on him before starting to clean.

It was a peaceful Thursday evening, he just got back from school, his father's absence leaving the house quiet. It was just him and his old dog Rex, snoring quietly somewhere in the living room.

After a while he finally finished, leaving his room in definitely not a sparkling state, but no more clothes and bottles laying around the floor and a clean bed sheet was enough for the boy. He looked around his room the last time making sure to take his phone, a lighter and the weed he was thinking about smoking couple minutes ago. He texted a couple of his friends on his way out.

As you were laying down on your bed, an old Nintendo console in your hands, you couldn't help but think about past events. Kenny has been acting so weird around you, all touchy and his tired eyes looking at you so softly every time you caught his glaze. Surely, he didn't like you in that way and you were just imagining everything, but a part of you wanted to believe maybe there were some feeling involved.

You groaned, your head pounding with a headache that's been bothering you all morning. You had to do something about it.

You stood up from your bed, turning the console off and placing it on the comforters. You took a short walk to the kitchen, taking painkillers out of the shelf and surprising yourself when you actually saw your mom in the house. She usually wasn't home when you came back from school, and today was no difference, so seeing her now was actually a surprise.

"Hey," you started, looking at the woman sitting on the couch a few feet away from you, she had a laptop on her lap and typed on it intensely, the television playing quietly in front of her. You opened the cap of the medicine, throwing a couple pills out on your palm and throwing the rest back inside. You swallowed the painkillers with no water, a skill you've learned back when you were too lazy to go grab yourself a bottle of water.

Hearing no response from your mom, you walked closer to her. "Hey," you repeated, waving a hand next to her.

She jumped slightly in her seat, not expecting you to appear so suddenly, even with your previous greeting. "Hi," she answered. "Sorry, I've been kinda busy. Have you eaten anything?"

"No problem, and yeah." you lied. You forgot to eat, just going to lay down on your bed right after school.

"Good," she hummed and paused for a while, leaving you standing in uncomfortable silence as she slowly went back to typing. After a couple seconds of standing you started to walk away, thinking it was all she wanted to say. When you stepped back on the stairs, she spoke up again, "I'm gonna be leaving for work soon for a while."

You stopped, grabbing the railing to steady yourself. "How long?"

"Couple days."

You sighed quietly. "Cool."

Not cool. Not cool at all.

You stepped back to your room, sighing as you closed your eyes and pushed your back against the wooden door. You slowly slid down, sitting on the floor completely. You groaned, pulling your knees to yourself and hugging them.
