Sure enough, the week went by quick and you found yourself dragging your last box to the car your mom rented. Toya was here, wanting to say her last goodbyes to you.
"Ahh, it's too early," she yawned, following you to the trunk. You placed the box in it gently, pulling out your phone to see the hour.
"Toya, it's twelve past eleven."
"I know right! Ugh, I would usually wake up at eight on the weekends, PM."
You chuckled, putting the phone back in your back pocket. Your mom suddenly appeared, opening and closing the passenger seat door, probably putting something in. "Hurry up, we need to be in Denver before afternoon, I want to visit your grandpa on the way," she said, before entering the car.
"This is it then, huh?" you started, turning back to the girl. Toya looked at you, shrugging.
"I got you a gift." Your eyes lit up as she pulled out something from her pocket. She reached for your hand, putting the gift in it and closing it. You opened your fist, looking at it. She gave you a small blue stone, wrapped in silver wire, with embroidery thread tied to it. Before you could question her rock choice, she started explaining.
"Known as the stone of truth, Lapis Lazuli will help you discover your voice while giving you enough confidence to say your truth and express to your friends what you feel. There was also something about balance and love and new friendships, blah blah blah, but I forgot it," the latina girl yawned. Just now you noticed she was reading it from her hand. "It strengthens your capability to communicate effectively, oh god, hard words, so it's great for long-distance, or some shit like that."
You chuckled, hugging her. "Thanks, I love it. Did you make it yourself?" You pulled away and she nodded. you straightened the thread and hung it around your neck, pulling out your phone to see it better. You smiled, looking at your reflection in the camera app. "I look so nice!! Come here, we're gonna make the last epic photo."
You turned around and you both posed, you making a random gesture and Toya giving a peace sign to the camera. It clicked the first time, and then you made another photo shuffling the phone slightly so it would come out blurred.
You showed the photos to her and you grinned, snickering at the fact her face was all over the image in the blurred photo. "Can I post these?"
She shrugged, "sure, just tag me,"
Beep beep, the car honks. You twitched at the loud sound and the girl just giggled. You hugged her one last time. "I'm gonna miss your stupid ass."
"Same goes for you," you replied, pulling away. You ruffled her red dyed hair, reaching down since she was much smaller than you hence her Hispanic genes. Haha.
The car honked once again, this time you were more chill about it. "Coming!" You yelled, turning to the front of it for a second. You turned back, and gave Toya a small wave, smiling slightly.
"Visit me in summer, alright?" she asked.
You chuckled. "Will do."
When you were in the car, you posted the two photos on your personal Instagram (which was filled up with your fans anyway).

i'm gonna miss her guys---
You walked to the school alone, unsure of what's gonna happen to you. You wished you could just ditch it but nooo, still two and a half years ahead of you left, so lame.
You got in the town yesterdays afternoon, your mom decided to sleep at your grandpas just so you wouldn't travel from Denver to South Park while she's tired. You wished you were nagging her to go earlier now, though, because you haven't really got a chance to meet anyone.
