The Note Of A Lifetime (mei x miriam)

Mei's POV:
Here i am, about to sneak out to meet a boy that i definitely don't like and hope that my mom doesn't come in my room to find me missing. god is this really worth it?

To get to Joey's i have to pass by miriams old house, so i haven't really gone there since she left. when i passed by i noticed a moving truck in front of the house, it's been empty ever since she moved so i guess it's about time someone moved in there.

i decided to just keep going, the last thing i need is to be seen as a weirdo for standing on a street corner staring.

When i got there i saw a couple people at tables but it was basically empty besides that. i checked the note again, that was in my pocket. "Meet me at Joey's at 5 tomorrow, you'll know me when you see me."

i sit down at a table and order a basket of fries and an iced tea, exactly the same as when we were younger. suddenly someone walked onto the stage and announced that a performance would be starting soon. this place is known for letting small local bands play so this is pretty common to hear.

a couple of kids walked out onto the stage while a paper rings by taylor swift started playing, okay then. a couple more walked out and i suddenly realized that all the people up there go to my school. Carter, Leah and.. oh crap. Tyler.

i wanted to leave, to stand up and run right out the door. i know exactly what they're doing. i've seen it in movies before, yes i think it's cute, but not when it's happening to me. but my legs didn't move. i stayed in my chair, covering my face with embarrassment. i saw at least a dozen kids that i've known since middle school, up on that stage dancing around to taylor swift. including tyler, abby and priya.

when it got to one of the last parts of the song, where everything gets quieter and slower, one last person walked out onstage. i could only see a shadow, and then the words came in, and they stepped into the light while everyone else stepped back. 

and there i saw her, in a green flannel and beanie, with black jeans and a band t-shirt, and her hair in two long braids, Miriam.
