Jamie was playing on his computer silently as he kept checking the clock, waiting for 12 to hit. He knew all of his family members would be asleep by then if they weren't already so he waited for his clock to say 12. When it did, he quietly went downstairs and grabbed his shoes by the door. He put them on and opened the door as he stepped out and quietly closed the door behind him. He texted his friend who met him with his car a block away from his house. His friend, Charlie, chuckled when they began driving. "You really waited until 12 to leave?" He said. "It was just a precaution to make sure everyone was asleep before leaving." Jamie said. "This isn't a party though right? I really don't feel like being at a party." Jamie added.

"I promise it's not a party. It's just you, me, and three other friends of mine sitting on my couch and hanging out. Maybe playing a few games. The only reason it wouldn't be a party is because those things can get way out of control and I don't feel like paying for damages in my new place." Charlie said. As they drove over to Charlie's, Charlie stopped at a gas station for a few snacks and sodas then drove to his place. They pulled into the garage and Charlie got out with Jamie. Jamie grabbed two boxes of soda cans while Charlie grabbed the two bags and they carried them to the door. Charlie unlocked his place and put his keys on a hook by the door. They carried the snacks and drinks to the kitchen and set them down.

Charlie poured two bags of chips into a big bowl and moved it to the coffee table in the living room as Jamie filled the fridge with sodas. They then went to sit in the living room as they heard the door open. "Hey Charlie! Jonathan brought brownies!" One of the guys, Henry, said. Out of all five guys, Jamie was the only current 17 year old with his 18th birthday being a month away. Charlie laughed. "Really? Y'all are crazy." Charlie said as he sat down. Jamie gave him a weird look. What was so crazy about brownies? He thought. He ignored it as he got a game set up on Charlie's Xbox. Liam came in behind the other two and closed the door as he hung up his coat. He sat by Jamie and shook his hand.

"Nice to finally meet you Jamie. The other three have been talking a lot about you." Liam said. Jamie smiled and chuckled. "Yeah. Probably about my strict parents and my annoying little brother." Jamie said. Liam chuckled. "I've heard a little about that. I meant more about stuff like how you threw up on your middle school crush and stuff." Liam said, chuckling. Jamie rubbed his eyes with his fingers as he said that. "Yeah that was a mistake." Jamie chuckled. Jamie played games and chatted with the other four for about two hours before Charlie went to use the bathroom. Jamie got up and went to the kitchen for a drink and saw the plate of brownies. They were decently sized and one had what seemed like a few bites taken out of it.

Jamie picked one up and took a few bites of it. It tasted really good. He ate most of it before going to sit with the others. Charlie came out as Jamie finished the brownie and Charlie sat next to him. "Hey Jonathan, can I get a recipe for those brownies?" Jamie asked. Charlie immediately looked over at him. "Did you take a bite of one?" Charlie asked. "Yeah. I ate one and they're really good." Jamie said. "Wait like a whole one?" Charlie asked. "Yeah. There's still plenty on the plate." Jamie said. "Yeah but you've never gotten high before." Charlie said. By then the other three had paused the game to look at them. "Oh dude. You ate a whole brownie when you've never been high before?" Henry asked.

"Wait did those brownies have something in them?" Jamie asked sitting up. "Yeah. Oh god your mom's gonna kill me." Charlie said. "Well I'm I gonna be okay?" Jamie asked. "Yeah but you're gonna get very high then you're gonna crash. I didn't know you've never had an edible before. I would have said something." Jonathan said. "This is going to be entertaining." Liam said chuckling. "What am I going to do?" Jamie asked. "You can drink water and let your body process the edible." Henry said. "Yeah water and sleep. So you should probably head home." Jonathan said. "Yeah. I think you should sleep it off. Come on. I'll drive you home." Charlie said as he got up. Jamie got up and went to the kitchen to grab a water bottle.

He followed Charlie to the car as he started drinking the water. "I'm sorry dude. I totally forgot to tell you about the brownies." Charlie said. "It's cool. Let's just hurry and get me home so I can sleep it off." Jamie said. "Though it makes more sense why you said they were crazy for bringing brownies." Jamie added and chuckled. Charlie laughed and shook his head. "Because I knew what they meant by brownies. They only ever bring brownies they made if there's something in them." Charlie said. "Yeah I didn't realize that. Although I had fun playing with them. We should plan another time to hang out." Jamie said. "We will. Especially when you're 18 and don't have to listen to your mom." Charlie said. Charlie dropped him off at home and Jamie went inside quietly and back to his room.
