Lillian rolled her eyes as she's grabbed her car keys and slammed the front door, her stepdad screaming in rage behind her. She was 17, soon to be 18 in a few months. Her mother had gotten into a car accident 3 years ago and her stepdad had gotten custody over her when her mother got into the accident. She didn't like her step dad though. Her biological father had run off with another woman and left Lillian and her mother behind. Lillian wished her mother's family would have gotten custody because she hated her stepfather. Although her mother raised her to be too kind so she didn't have the guts to really do anything about it but she truly wish she didn't have her stepfather right now.

She got into her car as her stepdad's front door flung open and he stormed out towards her. He slammed his hand against the driver's door. "Lillian get your ass out of the car and go clean your room like I told you." He demanded, still upset with her for arguing back with him. She rolled up the window and started the car. Her stepdad stepped back as she drove off in a hurry. She was driving around town and picked up some fast food with some money she had from her part time job. Her stepdad had demanded most of her paychecks go to him so she had to hide extra money in her bank account, which he didn't have control of. It was one of the few things she had managed to keep out of his hands.

She already assumed her stuff dad knew that she had been hiding money away considering most of her paychecks he'd been receiving we're getting less and less. She grabbed her fast food and pulled off into the parking lot to eat. She was texting her best friend, and her only friend, and telling her about the situation. Her best friend had been with her for a long time and she honestly couldn't think of a time anymore when she didn't rely on her best friend. Her best friend was the only person she could trust anymore ever since her mother passed. As she was in the middle of typing, a wrinkled hand kind of slammed into the driver's window making her jump and drop her cell phone.

She rolled her window down and the old lady outside the door gave her an apologetic smile. "I'm so sorry my dear. I didn't mean to scare you. I tripped when I went to knock. But I wanted to ask if you wanted a free mirror?" The old lady asked. "Oh well I don't need a mirror but if you insist I can pay you $10 for it." Lillian said to the old lady. She shook her head. "No no my dear. I'm giving it away. It's honestly not worth $10 or anything for that matter. It's kind of old and belong to my daughter when she was younger and now she has a family and stuff and she doesn't want it but I don't want it and quite frankly don't need it. But I didn't want it to go to waste so I just wanted to give it away." The old woman explained.

"Oh well if you insist then sure I'll take it. Are you sure I can't pay you anything for it?" Lily and asked that she opened her door to see this mirror the lady was talking about. "You're very sweet my dear. But seriously I don't want anything for it. I just want to give it away." The old woman said. Lillian followed the old woman to a nearby truck where she could see a full body mirror shape covered in cloth. "Is this your truck?" Lillian asked. "No it's my son in laws. It's his 36 birthday and he wanted to spend some time with me. But here's the mirror we've been trying to get rid of." The old woman said pointing to the mirror outline. Lillian climbed into the bed of the truck and took the cloth off.

The old woman had been right about the mirror. It looked old and the frames design was incredibly detailed. The mirror was really clean and so was the frame. "Wow. You were right about the mirror. It's so pretty." Lillian said. "I'm glad you like it. It's all yours." The old woman said. Lillian offered one last time to pay for it before taking it out of the bed of the truck and putting it in the back of her car. "Thank you miss for the mirror." Lillian said. "You're welcome. You know you're so very sweet. It's a shame bad things happen to good people." The old woman said. Lillian looked over, thinking the comment was strange. "Yeah. I feel bad about bad things happening to good people." Lillian said. "Yes. It's so sad. Like you losing your mother." The woman said.

Lillian tilted her head. "How did you-" She began, being cut off when two guys came over. One seemed to be her age and the other was older but not as old as the old woman. The boy her age had jet black curly hair and emerald green eyes and the man that seemed older had brown hair with the same green eyes. "Mary come on. We've talked about bothering people." The older man said. The boy looking to be Lillian's age looked over at her as the older man took the woman back to the truck. "Sorry if my grandma was bothering you. Shes overly friendly but we thought if we ran in real fast that she'd just stay in the car." The boy said. "It's okay. She knew my mom had passed without me even telling her. It was really weird." Lillian said.

"She used to be an expert psychiatrist. Maybe she still kind of is. This has happened a few times so we just don't question it anymore." The guy said. "I'm Lillian by the way." Lillian said. "Well hi Lily. I'm Joshua." The boy responded. "Hi Josh. And your grandma gave me that mirror you guys were trying to get rid of." Lillian said. "I figured she'd find someone to take it eventually." Joshua said. "Well I better get going. My dad's probably embarrassed because of my grandma." He added. "Yeah. I should get going too. Can I have your number? I would like to get to know you more." Lillian said. Joshua nodded. "Sure." He said and put his number in her phone. He then got in the truck with his dad and grandma and they drove away.

Lillian drove to her friend's to show her the mirror. "Wow. It's so beautiful. And you got this for free?" Her friend, Rose, asked. "Yeah. And a cute boys phone number." Lillian said earning a squeal from her friend. "I'm getting snacks so we can talk all about him. I'll be right back." Rose said before leaving the room. Lillian walked over to the mirror and looked into it. "It is a really cute mirror." She said to herself.
