Lillian was looking at the mirror when she swore she saw something. Almost like something was forming in the reflection. Just as she noticed this, Rose came back into the room with drinks and snack. "I thought drinks and snacks for our talk." Her friend announced, making her look over at her friend and away from there for a minute. She then look back at the mirror and it was normal again. This weirded Lillian out and Rose could probably tell. "What's up it's almost like you've seen a ghost? Did you see a ghost?" Rose said as she went to her bed and put the snacks down. "I don't know. While you were gone, the mirror started doing something. Or that's what it looked like. And don't ask me if I'm tired or anything because I know for a fact this was real this wasn't a hallucination. So don't even try to ask that." Lillian said to Rose.
"Okay I wasn't going to ask that. But what do you mean it started doing something?" Rose asked Lillian as she walked over and gave her her drink. "I don't know. It looked like it was reflecting something but something that wasn't there almost." Lillian said as she stared in the mirror. "Look I'm trying really hard to believe you, but this sounds nuts. And you're not giving a really good description of what happened. I mean if I called you and said that the screen on my cell phone was showing me something that didn't exist you'd think I'm crazy." Rose told Lillian. Lily ran her fingers over the frame of the mirror. "I really don't know. I mean I know that I probably sound crazy but I don't know how to explain it. I've never seen a mirror do something like that. And it was only for a quick second, once you came in it went back to normal." Lily said.
She took the drink Rose handed her and took a sip of it. Rose shrugged. "I don't know what to say. Do you want me to go get us some crackers?" Rose asked as she walked over to her door. "Yes please. I really appreciate that." Lily said I should put her drink on the nightstand next to her. As soon as Rose left and went to go get the crackers, Lily looked back at the mirror and saw the reflection twisting again. As she watched the mirror settle, the reflection showed her standing in Rose's room but she looked a little different. Instead of the short brown hair that she had, she had wavy long black hair. She also had her ears pierced and a lip piercing. Her stepdad never let her get piercings or grow her hair out long so this was definitely different. Rose's room also looked a bit different. Some of the posters were different and the bed sheets were definitely different.
She placed her hand on the mirror and watch the reflection follow and then it felt as if the mirror wasn't even there as she tripped and fell into the floor. As she sat up she realized she had fallen through the mirror somehow. She stood up and looked around before noticing the long black hair that no rested on her shoulders. Check back in the mirror and now instead of seeing the long black hair and piercings she could see her old self. The shore brown hair with no piercings. Somehow, it was like she had fallen into another plane of existence. Curiously, she left her friend's room and her friend's house all together and drove back to her house. She had also noticed that her car was a different color instead of being the plain white her father demanded it stay, it was maroon which was her favorite color and what she had wanted to paint the car.
As she got to her house, she noticed that the yard and the garden that she had failed to take care of looked like it had been taken care of. It was like spring had grown in her yard all of a sudden. There were flowers blooming and the grass wasn't the ugly brown color that it used to be. It actually looked like somebody lived in the house. As she stepped inside, a whole group of people sprung out of hiding and said happy birthday to her. She saw her mom actually standing there. She was so overwhelmed she ran over and hugged her mom tightly. Her mother just chuckled and hugged her back. "Welcome home sweetie." Her mother said that she rubbed her back. She really had fallen into another reality. One where her mother was still very much alive and with her and where she actually had control over her body. As she pulled away to look up at her mom, another voice spoke up.
"Hey babe." A guy said. As Lily looked over at him, she realized it was the same guy from earlier. The one that had given her his number. She was a little bit confused but then she saw the old woman and the boys father. The old woman waved to her and smiled. As she walked over, she moved some of Lily's hair behind her ear. "Like I said, it's such a shame that bad things happen to good people. You didn't deserve what you went through." She said. Lily didn't know how to comprehend any of this. But she was glad that she finally had her mother back. Her life without her mom was hell and she couldn't imagine living without her again.
