Narrator POV

The sound of a bullet hitting a metal can could be heard from the forest and all the way back to the summer mansion. The darkness between each tree had almost taken over the late summer sun—seeing rays of sunshine fighting to keep the tree-tops lit. Still, they didn't have any problem aiming. Elvis was far more experienced with guns than Sal. Without hesitation, he stood close to her, with his breath tickling her neck, warm and fuzzy. He carefully had a hold of her arms, steadying her to get the perfect shot. Sal didn't know if his helping hand made her more anxious about taking the shot or at ease.

Rosalie's POV (Sal)

«Slightly to the left, darlin'.» He said, whispering as if they were out hunting. Then BAM—The old silver can fell from the tree stump they'd used for their targets.

«Oh, man! That was great.» Elvis exclaimed with a charming grin on his lips, letting go of me.

Reasonably happy with my result, I smirked at Elvis's energetic response. «Thank you. I could probably have done it without you, though.» I teased him as I headed for the seven cans we brought—All found in the old garage.

«You could, huh?» He snickered, astonished and amused by my bold statement. «I'll give you that; you have the guts to get good at this. You're not afraid of the sound.» He admitted, giving me a compliment and maybe even his approval.

«I'll take that.» I humorously said, placing the last can ready for another round. Jogging back to Elvis's side, I observed his profile as he got ready to aim. His eyebrows frowned, transforming all his features. His attention was solely focused on one thing, while I, another.

Watching him get this very serious look to him, going through his strained jaw and tightened cheeks, reaching his defined cheekbones—he did seem notably handsome. I got what June probably saw in him in that compartment.

I just hoped for Elvis's sake that he got to be happy with her. Running away from his life didn't seem to be a good solution forever.

«I'll be fine,» Elvis said with a steady smile on his obviously exhausted face, with his classy white bedroom door behind him.

I opened and closed my lips, unsure if I had given him everything he needed for the night.

Elvis laughed tiredly. «Girly, we're in a mansion. If I need another pillow, I'll find one. I know where the bathroom is; even the extra towels. And the fridge is downstairs. So even if I need to go on a rummage, I'm set.» The words rolled off his tongue, clearly making fun of me and my sudden desperate realization that a Rockstar was spending the night under my roof. I sort of went a bit over the top and maybe even acted a bit erratic.

A smile spread on my lips, finally realizing I needed to give the boy some space. He would be just fine, like he said.

«Okay... Goodnight then.» I said with a rather tender smile getting a hold of the golden doorknob with the long hallway separating us. Two elegant white staircases on each side led down to the living room, placing the house's entrance right beneath out feet.

«Goodnight, Sal. Sleep tight.» Elvis chuckled lightly, shaking his head with a smile of his own as he went into his bedroom for the night.

Feeling my heavy head of thoughts as I laid down, the calm fell over the Summer Mansion.
