Steve and Alex tumbled down the embankment, losing a couple of hearts in the process, but ultimately, they were okay. Steve stood up quickly and turned around to look up at the cliff they fell down, putting his hand up to block the glare of the sun.
"Alto? Maribel?" he shouted.
"Sooty?" Alex called after him.
They all listened for a neigh, or a whinny, anything that was a response saying they were still there and alright.
"Eee-haw!" echoed down the cliff walls and down to Steve and Alex's ears. Both Steve and Alex looked at each other, a hopeful look on their faces.
"Stay put guys! We'll find a way up!" Steve yelled back, hoping that they'd listen. He then turned to Alex, who was already looking around for a way up. "We have to hurry, it'll be night soon and more Mobs spawn in the Jungle than anywhere else."
"Maybe we could climb up that tree over there," Alex pointed to a tall Jungle Tree smothered in Vines. "It looks like it'll reach the top."
"Nope, no good, look at it," Steve pointed just a little higher up on the trunk. "Those branches and leaves block the way, it won't do."
"Okay... what about that way?" Alex asked, pointing directly across from where they had slid down, which led out of the Chocolate Jungles and into the smaller Oak Forests.
"That's the exact opposite way we're trying to go, how would that work?" Steve asked.
"Do you have a better idea, Steve the-not-so-great Ironguard Warrior?" Alex roasted, putting her hands on her sides.
Steve didn't have anything to say, then he just sighed.
"Okay, we'll try it..." Steve moped, following Alex as she skipped in the direction toward the Oak Forest. As they walked, Steve looked up, watching as the sky began to turn a darker shade of blue. They needed to be extra careful now, the lower light levels got, the more likely Mobs would spawn, and Steve was the only one wielding a proper Sword.
They stepped over Shrubs and Tall Grass, even avoiding the prickly thorns of a Rose Bush as they trudged through the forest. Alex saw a Bee fly back to its Hive for the night, then she looked around with worry, then stopped upon hearing a rattle of bones somewhere around them. Steve drew his Sword and stepped in front of Alex, but she put a hand on his shoulder to move him aside while she loaded her Bow with an Arrow. They heard the noise again.
"Where is that coming from? I can't see anything," said Alex. Steve had an idea, reaching into the Bundle at his side and grabbing the supplies for a Torch, then struck it against a rock to light the area up.
"This is better," he said, then continued forward with his Sword armed in his other hand, only for a long pair of legs to step in front of him. "Uhh..."
Steve made the amature move of looking up at the Enderman's eyes and it upset the creature with an otherworldly hiss and scream. Steve flew back, dropping the Torch in the process and it landed on the Enderman's foot. It teleported, angered by the small burn it sustained, then Steve and Alex looked all around for it.
"You have to fight it, Steve!" Alex shouted, then Steve looked at her with a bazillion questions in his eyes.
"What? By myself? Why can't you shoot it with an Arrow or something?" he asked.
"Well, I could try that, but he'll probably teleport away before it hits him," she explained quickly. "Endermen have to be defeated using melee, it's the only way!"
Then the Enderman teleported in front of them, charging them with its mouth hanging open. Steve cringed, but he put both of his hands on the hilt of his Sword and swung. To his amazement, he actually hit it! But now it disappeared again.
