Words weren't enough to explain the turmoil of emotions Izuku felt in the moment. Even though everything happened slowly and Katsuki's words were soft and gentle, to Izuku, it felt like everything happened far too fast and he almost had a whiplash just from all of it. Izuku's head swirled with everything that happened and he blinked very slowly trying to gather himself and his mind to try and make sense of what is happening. It was a good thing that he was sitting in the bathtub filled with water that was now cold because his legs would not have supported him as those sweet words registered into his poor beaten heart. His heart that he had locked in the strongest of cages for years after his mother's passing in fear that he would be a hollow shell of himself if he hadn't. Katsuki's words shattered the cages as if they were made of dust.
Izuku realised that he was no longer breathing and his heart no longer beating as his eyes shifted from Katsuki's eyes to his lips that were now inching closer to his face. He softly blinked and Katsuki's lips were claiming his and there were no more thoughts in his head. It was as if those taunting voices that haunted his days and nights never existed, as if his twisted thoughts never were there. Everything just fell silent as he felt the soft lips of his husband on his own and that sweet and loving scent of rosewood and summer sunlight completely wrapped him in the comfort that he craved since the very day he left Ruby. His words now finally sinking into the Omega's head silencing every single cruel word that his had mind said to him. For the first time in his entire life, his mind was completely silent. No cruel words or no taunts and reminders of his issues and insecurities came up to his head as Katsuki's lips slowly pressed harder against his reminding him of their presence and that he wasn't reciprocating the kiss. Izuku's eyes fluttered as he pressed back kissing him with equal love. The sweetness of the kiss resonated all over Izuku's body.
He reluctantly pulled back, tears brimming his eyes as he staired back at the Alpha, his heart in pieces and bruised. His heartbroken gaze stared at the Alpha and only sky rocketed the worry in Katsuki's mind. This is not the reaction he expected from his wife when he told him that he loved him. It only felt like Izuku was pulling away from him more and more. It felt like if he let go of Izuku in that moment, he would leave him forever and he would never be able to hold him in his arms again. Katsuki's grip on Izuku's hands only tightened as the urge to not let go took over. Izuku took a shaky breathe as he shook his head, a soft sob escaping his lips. His mouth opened and closed multiple times. It seemed like he was struggling to get his words out of his mouth. Tears dampening his cheeks more and more as he tore his eyes away from Katsuki's captivating and hurtful face.
"...I.. no.. I don't.." He mumbled hiccuping as he struggled to breathe through his sobs. Katsuki's heart shattered at those words. his instinct making him flinch and pull back. Was Izuku rejecting him? He didn't.. he didn't love him? He will leave him now. Katsuki's heart was pumping in a very different way as he stared at his broken mate.
"You.. don't.. what?.. love me? want to be with me? So you do want to leave... well.. You are free to, aren't you?.. We aren't married in the eyes of the monarch so.. you can go.." Katsuki's words were hurt filled and his chuckle was filled with pain as he backed away from his mate, looking at the floor. He couldn't look at the man he confessed his feelings to only to be shut down.
