Chris's pov in third person:

The engine of the car roared to life and Chris backed out of the drive way in a hurry. He had one thing in mind as he drove and sped down the street: he was going to find the guy who hurt his sister, maybe even his dead sister and he was going to kill.

He knew Ben was right. He was only a rich white college student who would never get any consequences by law. Too bad because the consequences the law could have given him would be far better than the deadly one Chris had in mind.

It didn't take him long to find the bastard. He had a friend, Marcus, who used Chris's description and tracked him down that way. They found out this wasn't his first time. He was only put on house arrest for three months after what the system believed was his first and last assault. They knew that wasn't the truth. It couldn't be further from the truth. He was surprised his record wasn't completely wiped clean.

He and Marcus found him at a place they'd expect any twenty something college guy to be at. The bar in the local university town. Saturday night drinker. Partier. Rapist.

The last word lingered in his head as he opened one of the double doors to the old fashioned ranch style bar. He had to hold onto that word so he knew he was doing people a favor and not just senselessly going to take a life. He wasn't just doing other girls a favor, he was doing a favor for Mia. His innocent baby sister who was left scared and hardly able to sleep.

Thinking of how this could easily this could have become her last straw broke his heart. His sister had been through the death of their older sister, her parents, losing friends, trust in her remaining friend had been broken, and as if things couldn't get worse, she was assaulted. Why Mia couldn't catch a break from the pain, Chris didn't know. But he wanted her to know that she was safe. Who knows what that sick man could do since she'd gotten away with help. He didn't want to lose yet another sister. He couldn't and he wouldn't. Not again. Never again.

He'd do anything for his sister and if that meant he'd have to kill someone, he would. He was beyond angry that someone would even think about hurting her.

As he looked around the bar, he found him sitting at a booth, talking, laughing, and he could've sworn he was talking about what happened the night before. He mentioned a man stopping "their" fun. It made Chris's stomach turn as he did everything in his power to casually walk up to the man who hurt his sister.

Mia's pov in third person:

She woke up to the gentle and comforting stokes of Benjamin rubbing her head. When Benjamin and Asher switched places she didn't remember but she was glad she didn't wake up alone. The last thing she wanted was to be away from them. Not again, not after what she put herself through.

Benjamin told her that Chris would have Stella come over later in the afternoon so the two of them could talk. They all knew she needed someone who understood her, a woman especially. As soon as Benjamin told her Chris said Stella would understand, she knew what it meant.

The same thing or worse most likely happened to her, too. It broke her heart as she wondered how someone could hurt Stella. She was loving, kind, and all she wanted to do was help people. It made her wonder why people took advantage of kind and loving people. They saw someone who was trying their best to be happy and they snatched it away. Every. Single. Time. Would it ever stop?

Mia came to the conclusion that it wouldn't. At least not in her lifetime. Women had be struck down so many times throughout history and no matter how hard they fought, it continued before it slowly got better.

"You should eat something." Benjamin said.

"I'm not hungry." She replied.

"I know, but you should just try. Asher made chocolate waffles."
