after arriving in mystic falls, klaus and astrid were met with terrible news. not only was the hunter killed (by elena, of all people) but one of klaus' hybrids as well. while the former went to tyler's house to drink with them, astrid went to the grill and decided to drink by herself.

it was easy to compel the bartender to give her access to the entire liquor cabinet (though, she did leave a large tip for them to compensate). with each bottle came a different sorrow. she started drinking to the poor hybrid that died because of the hunter. she moved unto the fact that elena will never get the cure and has to live the rest of her days being something she hates. she symphathized with the idea.

though she has grown to love who she was now, astrid spent almost half of her life despising what she has become. and a part of her knew elena would never feel the way she does now about being a vampire.

eventually, different sorrows of the past made themself known to the tribrid. but the worst of them all came when she thought of klaus' words.

"do whatever the hell you want, astrid. tell barry wright, tell damon for that matter. tell every single lover you've had, i wont give a damn."

then, her phone rang. when astrid glanced at the caller id, she took one swing at the bottle (drinking the entire thing with one gulp) because it was just her luck klaus was calling her. a part of her wondered if he was thinking about their interaction the same way she was. if it bothered him so much. but a much larger part of her knew.

she knew klaus would never bring it up again for the rest of their life. whether or not they'd spent that together or not.

"klaus?"

"hello, my love," klaus said, with that sweet calm voice of his. years ago, she would have swooned and danced in joy. it was so rare for him to sound this way, especially with how his father was.

but now, astrid knew what that voice meant. "you're using your murder voice, my darling."

he doesn't try to deny it. in fact, in the other side of mystic falls, klaus stood up straight and a wide smile on his face. "you know where the gilbert house is, don't you?" before astrid could even reply, he adds, "come quickly."

astrid does, in fact, not come quickly. she drank about two more bottles (though, it only took about 5 minutes) because i cannot see him sober. when she finished, she walked out of the grill and vamp-sped to the gilbert house, wondering what did the mystic gang do once again.

when she was near the house, she found klaus walking towards her. she ran towards him, landing at his side, and she used her hearing to listen in on his call. it was stefan.

"but i am concerned about your beloved," klaus spoke, as he gave a nod of acknowledgement towards astrid. "have the hallucinations started yet?"

"what do you know about that?" stefan asks from his end of the call.
