Today is 6th of February, Vaidehi's birthday.
When she called me yesterday whining about "how there is a difference in temperature in Delhi, how Delhi used to be more colder and how much she is missing the og cold Delhi.
"Yaar, ab delhi mein wo baat hi nahi." She says.
"Haa, ab dil toh Kanpur mein laga hain, Delhi kaha pasand aayega, madam ko." I tease her.
"Itte sundar, hot ladke pe, aise kutto waali baatein suit nahi karti, Bakshi ji." She replies.
"Dekho, ab devta jaisa bestfriend bhi kutta lagne laga. Ye jo halka halka suroor hain, tere nazro ka kasoor hain." I sang the last part.
"Ughhshshshsksjjs." She let out a frustrated groan which made me laugh.
"What surprise are you planning for tomorrow?" She asks.
"Firstly, if I will tell you that then it won't be a surprise. Secondly, why should I plan any surprise? Haven't you subscribed for lifelong surprises by marrying a very I repeat very handsome man, shouldn't he be planning a surprise ?" I questioned.
"I don't think that he even knows about my birthday." She speaks in a low voice.
"Tu khush toh haina, Veeru?" I ask her. It was a reflex. It always have been, I can sense her emotions even from two continents apart.
"Haa, family toh achi hain but Vihan, Vihan samjh mein nahi aate Jai."
"Abhi tu aur wo kitte din saath hi thhe, mushkil se 2 hafte, thoda time de, acha insan hain wo Veeru." I try to make her understand.
"Teri aur uski pehli meeting yaad haina? Ghasitaram ? Main usse ussi din samjh gaya tha, time dekar dekh. Aur agar apne husband ko miss kar rahi toh bata launda Cambridge se uthawa lu?" I joke which make her giggle.
Oh, how much I have missed her.
"Apne andar ka Gurgaon, bahar matt nikalo." She says before breaking into a laugh. A broken tape recorder laugh.
"Kal aarahe na?" She asks me.
"Kal kuch hain kya? Mujhe toh nahi yaad." I tease again.
"JaiiiiBakshiiiij jumtrt fuccckxunghg stoppp teasimggg mweee." She yells on the call.
"paan thook ke bolo." I say and laugh and suddenly the she hungs up.
Few seconds later, she calls again.
"Gulab Jamun kha rahi thi. Garm hain. tumhari Ravan jaisi hassi sunke, atak gaya tha." She explains.
"Oh, mujhe laga Kanpur pohachke paan ka shaukh hogaya hain. And I am in Bengaluru right now, I don't think so I will be in Delhi tomorrow. Sorry, Veeru. I gotta go, will call you later " I answer her previous question.
"Oh, okay, goodnight then" she replies softly.
"Goodnight, Veeru." I say and she hungs up.
Well Jai Bakshi will never leave his best friend alone that too on her birthday I thought to myself.

There isn't any competition between the two of them, and Vaidehi and Jai will never end up together, but Jai is my baby 💘.
