"creak"

mingyu was suddenly woken up by a light screech as he slumbered in the living room. he rubbed his eyes so they could adjust to the darkness of the room. he noticed the balcony door was open so he went to investigate the cause and saw wonwoo sitting outside and staring at the view.

"hey, is everything alright?" mingyu asked in a raspy voice as he had just woken up, causing wonwoo to flinch slightly since he thought he was the only one awake.

"not really.." wonwoo replied as he turned around to see mingyu looking down at him curling up on the floor. mingyu took the opportunity to sit next to him. wonwoo noticed his heart skipping beats as mingyu's presence drew near him.

"do you mind talking about your problems to me? i will be here to listen." mingyu assured wonwoo as he laid a hand on his shoulder, making wonwoo feel relieved to have met someone as caring as mingyu.

wonwoo's tears started to form in the corners of his eyes as he let his guard down and opened up to mingyu. from his abusive household to being alone most of the time, wonwoo couldn't help himself but break down as he buried his head in his hands.

mingyu understood the elder, he was always lonely at home. despite living with his grandma, he didn't have a proper bond with his parents as they were always busy going on business trips and whatnot. he wanted to be there for wonwoo and vice versa, so that the both of them wouldn't have to deal with the loneliness that fostered inside of them.

after what felt like years of ranting, wonwoo eventually stopped crying. wishing the night didn't leave as he saw glimpses of pink and yellow painting the morning sky. they both realised it was near sunrise.

"we should get back to sleep for a while." mingyu suggested, he didn't want to be grumpy when he got to school, so a small nap could work in his favour. wonwoo nodded as he stood up and went to his room, followed by mingyu.

wonwoo went to mingyu's room so he could rest up and go to his afternoon college class. mingyu abruptly entered his room, looking at wonwoo who was comfortable in his bed.

"what are you doing? i thought you were sleeping on the couch." wonwoo questioned as he saw mingyu facing him.

"i'm just gonna work on my homework that i need to submit later." mingyu lied. only wanting to comfort wonwoo after what he'd told him about his problems. mingyu couldn't help but to feel bad for wonwoo.

after mingyu was done with his work for half an hour, he noticed wonwoo soundly asleep. he didn't want to wake the elder up, so he went up to the bed where wonwoo was in and slept next to him.

ring ring ring

mingyu groaned as he woke up noticing wonwoo was asleep. the view of wonwoo caught mingyu's attention as he carefully observed wonwoo's features. from his sharp nose to his plumped lips, mingyu was eager to play with either of them. but he knew better and not to do anything to startle the elder.

he got up from bed to start his morning routine, he showered and changed into his school uniform. suddenly wonwoo woke up, catching mingyu off guard.

"d-did we sleep together?" wonwoo asked as if he was scared of what mingyu was about to answer. mingyu didn't know if he should lie to him or tell him the truth, he just wanted to make wonwoo feel comfortable.

"nope, i slept in the spare guest room, don't worry about it." mingyu lied, not wanting to see wonwoo feeling rather uneased about them sleeping together.

"oh okay." wonwoo sighed as if he was a bit disappointed that they didn't fall asleep in the same mattress. mingyu just laughed it off and took his backpack.

"i'm gonna head to school now so feel free to do whatever you want here' mingyu winked, causing wonwoo to cringe slightly about the cheesy comment. he laid back since he felt exhausted from venting to mingyu for the entire early morning.

"see you at work wonwoo, text me when you get home by the way." mingyu waved as he left wonwoo alone in his room. wonwoo said goodbye as he slowly dozed off to sleep without checking the time.

wonwoo woke up from the sun shining on his face. he didn't realise he was still in mingyu's bed until he smelled the sheets that were totally different from his usual scent. the vanilla aroma cause wonwoo to panic a bit.

"fuck, what time is it." wonwoo cursed as he got up to search for his phone. once he found it, he turned his phone on to check the time, only to realise,

11:38 AM

"WHAT??" wonwoo screamed in shock, he slept in mingyu's place this whole time alone without his presence. he then saw many missed calls and unread messages from his parents, making wonwoo's heart beat out of his chest in fear. he forgot to tell them he'd be staying over at his colleague's place from the heavy rain since he lived half an hour from the cafe and commuted by his bicycle. but even so, his parents would certainly go against the idea.

he changed back to his now dried up clothes and left the room, observing the decor that were placed neatly in the entire flat. he looked at the picture frames that were placed on the shelf in the living room. one in particular was a family portrait of mingyu's family.

in the photo, mingyu was sitting in the center with his grandparents beside him. alongside of that were his parents standing behind the trio. wonwoo noticed mingyu looked a lot younger than the manly figure he already was, he could guess that the photo was taken a few years back.

he smiled at younger mingyu as he placed a finger on top of his face and poking it lightly. his heart raced as he thought of what mingyu was like when he was a child, possibly the same as now: clingy and kind.

he continued staring the rest of the picture frames. from mingyu earning his gold medal for a junior basketball competition to a photo of him and his grandpa going fishing together, wonwoo couldn't help but to adore this man who resembled a golden retriever with his canines showing from time to time.

as soon as he placed the last frame he was looking at, footsteps were heard from the staircase. wonwoo didn't know what to do as he ran around the living room trying to find a spot to hide from whoever was coming down. wonwoo thought he was home alone, but he thought wrong.

by the time he found the perfect place to hide behind the curtains, he was frozen when he heard a loud, raspy voice coming from behind him.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE?"
