in a bustling city, where people commute with public transportation or driving a private vehicle, lived a quiet, shy and timid boy, jeon wonwoo, who was eager to look for a part time job as a way to financially support himself throughout his college life.

"this is way harder than i thought."

wonwoo said with annoyance as he scrolled through his facebook page, wanting to search for a part time job so he didn't have to burden his parents financially, though he was already a burden to them as a whole. he kept scrolling as it felt like what'd been years already.

"fuck it, i give up. this is so irritating."

he switched to the message app to text his childhood best friend, lee seokmin, who has been his ride or die even before they went to elementary school.

[seokmin 🤢]

wonwoo: hey dude

seokmin 🤢: yes :)

wonwoo: do you know anyone who is in need of a part timer rn

wonwoo: i need to get that bread :(

seokmin🤢: i think so?

seokmin🤢: so the first job you can take is a stripper, they pay you loads!

seokmin🤢: and since you're gay, gay clubs are best fitting for you!!

wonwoo: scrap that idea, what's the latter option?

seokmin🤢: you can be a barista at my uncle's cafe downtown! it just opened recently

seokmin🤢: i think it opened two weeks ago? not sure

wonwoo: okay i'm taking that offer

wonwoo: better than being a young stripper, that's literally jail-worthy 😐

seokmin🤢: cmon won, you're barely 18

seokmin🤢: anyways i'll give u my uncle's contact details in a bit

seokmin🤢: i need to take the fattest shit ever! i feel like exploding rn

wonwoo: tmi..

and with that, wonwoo turned off his phone, raising the corners of his lips, forming a smile. he knew he was gonna get that job since seokmin is the owner's nephew, so the negotiation would flow pretty smoothly. he rest his eyes as he awaited for the next day to come.

it was the summer before all the high school graduates become freshmen in college, that included wonwoo. he wanted a fresh new start in college, so his family moved to Seoul as a way to escape the suburban life back in his hometown. and fortunately enough, that is also where seokmin lived.

wonwoo and seokmin had been inseparable ever since before preschool. both of their mothers were high school friends and had been closer than ever. although wonwoo was older than seokmin by a year, seokmin started school earlier than those his age, so wonwoo and seokmin went to the same elementary and middle school. however, seokmin had to move to the city for his dad's job, so they went to different schools while keeping in touch through socials.

wonwoo was a very shy boy, always loved reading books and hated any social events. that was until he met seokmin, who was known for being the sunshine of the school - constantly making every kid and teachers in class laugh because of his goofy personality. wonwoo started to open up and interact with the others, even if it was not as speedy as seokmin.

wonwoo was not the rich and loved one, since he came from a family that focused more on simplicity and comfort rather than wealth and success. he was always looked down on by his parents and peers in high school. meanwhile, seokmin was very loveable and came from a well-off family. with a family-owned company, he was thriving in life, which made wonwoo quite envious at times. despite their differences, they both were the best of friends ever.

wonwoo woke up by the sunlight luminating from the curtains in his bedroom. he rubbed his eyes in annoyance at the fact that the curtains weren't serving their purpose. he got up on his side and reached for his phone that had been charging on the bedside table overnight. he looked at his notifications and saw some unread messages from seokmin.

[seokmin 🤢]

seokmin 🤢: instead of giving you my uncle's contact info

seokmin 🤢: i actually called him last night and told him about you!

wonwoo: you did WHAT

wonwoo: what did he say???

seokmin 🤢: he said he would love to interview you before you actually get the job.

seokmin 🤢: since you never had any experience making any drinks, you might feel a bit challenged at first

seokmin 🤢: but i think you'll do fine

wonwoo: i hate you for that

wonwoo: but thanks lol

seokmin 🤢: so like, do u have any plans today?

wonwoo: no

wonwoo: why?

seokmin 🤢: i kinda told my uncle that you're free to do an interview today..

wonwoo: ...

wonwoo: when i see you, you're DEAD to me

seokmin 🤢: hehe thank me later, good luck on your interview!

seokmin 🤢: you can go there at 4

seokmin 🤢: here's the address

seokmin 🤢: <inserts attachment of cafe's address>

seokmin 🤢: ok bye i gtg, needa feed my dog

wonwoo: but you don't have one??

seokmin 🤢: now i do :)

wonwoo rolled his eyes, he couldn't believe the interview was already today. typical seokmin, always causing trouble for the elder. he put on a semi-formal look for the interview, white button up top with loose blue jeans. he rode his bicycle to the designated address seokmin had sent

"i hope things go as planned." wonwoo thought to himself.
