7. The Mind Flayer

They were now walking on a railroad. Dustin and Steve with flashlights in the front, Max and Lucas in the middle, and Vivvie in the back, thinking about things. Vivvie was trying not to think about what happened on the bus, although she was trying her hardest not to, it just kept coming back every time it left. It was almost like someone with an outside cat, every time the cat would leave it would come right back whenever it wanted to, weither that be a couple of hours later or ten minutes later, it just always came back. Which if it actually was a cat, that would be exciting, but in this case it's not a cat so therefore, not exciting.

"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas asked.

"Yes. He had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt." Dustin answered making Vivvie scrunch up her nose.

"He was tiny two days ago." Max told Dustin

"Well, he's molted three times already."

"Malted?"

"Molted. Shes his skin to make room for growth like hornworms." Dustin explained.

"When's he gonna molt again?"

"It's gotta be soon. When he does, he'll be fully grown, or close to it. And so will his friends."

"Yeah, and he's gonna eat a lot more than just cats."

Lucas stopped Dustin making them all stop and Vivvie catch up to them.

"Wait, a cat? Dart ate a cat?"

"Dart ate a what? I wasn't listening." Vivvie butted in

"No, what? No."

"What are you talking about? He ate Mews."

"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max asked

"It's Dustin's cat." Steve explained to her.

"Steve!"

"I knew it! You kept him!" Lucas yelled while hitting Dustin.

"Dustin!" Vivvie yelled

"No! No. No, I... No, I... He missed me. He wanted to come home."

Vivvie looked up into the sky while spinning and muttering curse words under her breath before Steve stopped her.

"Bullshit!"

"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, okay?"

"Like were supposed to believe that!"

"Oh, so now you admit it?"

"Guys, who cares? We have to go."

"I care! You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!"

"So did you! And you!" Dustin yelled while pointing at Lucas and Vivvie.

"What?" Lucas and Vivvie asked at the same time.

"You two told a stranger the truth!" Dustin yelled while pointing his flashlight in Max's face making her scoff and butt in "A stranger?"

"You wanted to tell her, too!"

"But I didn't, Lucas, okay? I didn't tell her! All three of us broke the rule of law, okay? So we're even. We're even."

"No, no! We're not even. Don't even try that. Your stupid pet could have ate us for dinner!"

"That was not my fault!"

Steve tries to call out to them but their too busy arguing to hear him.

"He wasn't gonna eat us."

"He was crawling to come say hello?" Lucas says sarcastically making Vivvie snort.

When they all start talking over each other Steve calls out to them again but a lot louder "Guys!" making them all turn their heads to him. Vivvie sighs when she hears the screeching of the demogorgons in the distance. Steve puts his bat over his shoulder and starts walking towards it, Lucas and Dustin following him. "No, no, no. Hey, guys, why are you headed towards the sound?"
