Chapter 1: Secret Dates

[Context:] Dear Kai's life is at stake, Tenzin's being spying on him all month it's getting ridiculous... he can't even have a single moment of privacy. Due to this, having dates with his girlfriend is time limited. Jinora is confused on why he hasn't been hanging out with her like they used to and is concerned is their relationship is strained.

Canon Universe: both Kai and Jinora are 13 here, with Tenzin being irritated of her teenage rebellion years.

Walking through the corridors of the Air temple, Kai sighed tiredly. At the corner of his eye he could see Ikki and Meelo peeking from the wall behind. You have got to be kidding me again... he thought. Tenzin just can't leave him alone! Anxiety creeps him whenever he would try to talk to his girlfriend, afraid of Tenzin just popping out of nowhere. He reached the door of his room and went inside, throwing himself on the covers. Ever since gossip came out of him and Jinora dating made Tenzin go ballistic. Jinora's not even allowed to mentor him for his airbending, instead he always gets partnered with Yung, not that he minds though. Sniffling and wiping the tears of his cheeks, he tries to calm down, then curls up into a ball and cries more. He can't even eat properly anymore, this is abuse.

Minutes had passed by, it felt like hours and days. Then suddenly, a light bulb lit up in his brain. He could use his stealth skills to sneak into Jinora's room. That should work. He just needed to wait for the right time...

Flashback...

"Did you Master Tenzin's daughter is dating her fellow airbender, Kai? That's his name."

"Young love..." an older girl said. The other airbenders have been gossiping about this concept ever since rumor got out -- technically, Ikki's blabbermouth won't shut up the second she saw Kai and Jinora holding hands.

"Well, I thought they were already dating, that time Tenzin asked me where was Jinora and I told him she was in a glider with her boyfriend, he wasn't pleased with that one," Yung explained.

"Oh my, I guess overprotective father issues?"

"Sort of," another airbender spoke up, "Hopefully their love story wouldn't be like Avatar Korra's. It was one hectic love square," they giggled.

"Yeah, like that one time Mako dated Asami then Korra, then got back together with Asami again after Korra, with Bolin having a crush on Korra as well."

"Both ex-girlfriends dated each other in the end."

"Nah, that won't happen. I know Kai very well, he wouldn't even dare to do that," Yung assured them.

Meanwhile, Tenzin, walking to check if Jinora was meditating at the other side of the temple unknowingly heard the whole conversation and had processed a summary of it: Jinora and Kai are DATING. What? THEY'RE DATING?! Since WHEN, and HOW?!

Tenzin's mind exploded in fury. However he kept his calm composure, for now.

Weeks after the flashback...

A list of things that had happened after that incident:

1. Where is Kai? He should be here any moment now. Jinora was patiently waiting underneath the moon-peach tree. Sadly, Kai never arrived.

2. "Jinora, you'll be assigned with Meelo. Kai will be assigned with Yung." Oh, man. Maybe next time we'll be together, Jinora thought.

3. "Kai, would you like to sit with me?" Jinora asked. It was lunch time and they were finding a place to sit. "Uhh, maybe no. Sorry, Jin." He then quickly marched away from her sitting at another table. "Okay..." she was saddened by the fact that he didn't want to sit next to each other. What happened to him?
