[Hank's POV]
My eyes rested, shut tightly under the crimson glasses worn over them. I focused on what I could hear. A dim buzz in the right ear, slowly growing and spreading as I focused on the static-like sound more. Pinpricks of color filled the blankness of the void that laid beneath my eyelids, quickly fizzling in and out as the buzz in my ears had. The noise grew louder. And louder.. And louder... Til I woke up.
Eyes closed, yet conscious. Static faded, replaced with a pulsing maroon as light shun against my eyelids. The sound of static replaced with the hum of fluorescent lights. I debated opening my eyes. It'd be so nice to fall asleep again. To not worry about the rest of the day. To fall back into nothingness and static. White noise to calm the aching mind of its selfish desires. Then I heard it. Or should I say, heard him? Fading in and out of earshot, straining to hear the voice that talked like a poem.
"Goddamnit.... Can't keep.. out of trouble...."
I opened my eyes. But where was he? I sat where I was when I had first started this break. I hadn't moved a single inch. The voice sung again, echoing throughout the lengthy hallway.
"Where are you, Wimbleton?"
My body stiffened. The voice breathed behind my back. Each sharp, shaky exhale being felt against exposed skin. Cool, sharp metal pressed against, my now, thumping arteries.
"Found you."
The dull, numbness of the mind returned. Eyes rolled back in their sockets as my body collapsed limply to the floor, scarlet blood oozing out cut skin. The pulse being lost as static returned, welcomed with open arms. Cheers to a successful death.
