In the morning, the two of them were sitting with Jason in an open cafe in Tavistock Square near the Jisoo house. It was still quite early, and the sun, clothed in a bluish haze, was rising somewhere behind the houses, promising heat, but here, under the canopy, it was quite cool. Apart from Kim and Jason, tall, broad-shouldered, with a masculine profile like a Greek statue, there was no one in the cafe, only a sleepy waiter near the bar was wiping cups and from time to time was distracted by correspondence with someone in Whatsapp.

During the whole story of Jisoo, Jason was silent, only occasionally glancing at the girl, but he listened very attentively, and when she finished, he looked up at her and, after thinking, said gloomily, shrugging his broad shoulders:

-Well, you screwed up the story. It's like you've watched a TV show.J

-Only it's all true. Scary, uncomfortable, and, it seems, not completely open. A month ago, I was forced to sign some kind of ban so that I would not approach members of Kim's family. This same Charlie came to my house and threatened to sue, and, in general, I was in such a state that I signed. And then he said something strange, but then I couldn't figure out what it was.

Jason took a sip from his cup and waved to the waiter. The latter, with obvious displeasure, left his stand and approached.

-Another cappuccino.

-Yes, sir.

-So what alerted you?- Jason crossed his arms over his chest, and Jisoo leaned her elbows on the table and leaned forward.

-He called Murphy a halibut. You see, he used the word "halibut". I thought—that's how Kristen teased him. But how was Charlie supposed to know exactly how Kristen was teasing Murphy? He claims that he did not communicate with the girl personally and that he did not know her, so from where?

Jason raised a dark eyebrow.

-And?

Jisoo leaned back and ran her hand through her disheveled hair.

-I think Charlie knew about the blackmail because he was in cahoots with Murphy. And I also think it was Mr. Kim who hired Murphy to blackmail Jennie when he found out about their relationship with Kristen.

Jason glanced at Jisoo from under his brows and shook his head.

-Jisoo, these are very serious statements and in general... to draw such conclusions from the word "halibut" is a bit powerful, don't you think? You're right, the story is muddy, of course, but you never know what happened there, we won't find the ends now.

Kim stared at him with a slight annoyance.

-Jason, listen, all I need is for you to find out what happened there eight years ago with Kristen. What is said about it in the archive, how they did it, and maybe if you search, you will find some clues. After all, a double murder should have left traces, shouldn't it? You're my only hope, because I don't have any other friends working in the police! I just have nowhere else to go!

Jason was silent for a few seconds, as if thinking. His dark, handsome face was thoughtful and sad. Then, with obvious awkwardness, he ran his hand over his shaved head.

-Jisoo, of course I will try, but you understand that with such money they had the opportunity to hide it very carefully. I'm unlikely to be able to access anything.

-Jason, I understand that there is scanty hope, but there is one. Just find out what happened then and find out how John Murphy and Kristen died.

The guy rubbed his forehead with his palm.
