Dinner was served in the dining room, and as soon as the clock struck seven, at the same moment the wide double doors opened and the majestic Mrs. Norton (as I think her name was) entered with the words:

-Mr. Kim, dinner is served.

-Thanks.- Mr. Kim nodded good-naturedly, and everyone except Jennie and Dustin got up from their seats, stretching their legs slightly stiff from sitting for an hour.

-Are you coming with us?- Mr. Kim asked the couple, who continued to whisper, and Jisoo looked at Jennie, who was finishing her third glass of wine and continued to listen attentively to Dustin, who spoke in a low voice. The reaction to his question was a little late, because the young people were so engrossed in the conversation that they did not notice anything around them.

-Let's go.- Edward took Jichu by the elbow, and she didn't have time to hear what Dustin and Jennie answered Mr. Kim's question.

After discussing the hunt, the conversation in the living room flowed into another channel: Edward was telling his father about his new job, the words "communicate", "strategy", "b2b" and "optimization" flashed, Marcus, who, as it turned out, was also related to Kim Empire, agreed and offered his options for the development of the company, and even gloomy Charlie put in a couple of phrases when Edward complained about the lack of security in the office. Charlie's voice was booming and low, as if from a barrel, and he spoke impressively, weighing every word.

Jisoo was frankly bored, but the second and then the third glass of whiskey helped her relax a little. Edward, who did not let go of her hand for a long time, holding it on his knee, sometimes looked sympathetically at the bride, clearly wanting to turn the conversation to something interesting for everyone present, but he did not dare to interrupt his father, and the couple opposite continued to discuss something enthusiastically, ignoring the others. Jisoo noticed that Mr. Kim looked at her daughter and her boyfriend several times with approval, and she was always disgusted by this tacit participation in their conversation.

Is Daddy happy that his daughter is doing everything the way he wants?

The incredible vulgarity of this phrase, which sounded in Jisoo's head against her will, stunned her herself, but looking at Jennie and Dustin, who cooed like doves on their couch, she was ready to think about something else. How disgusting it is to substitute your adult daughter for a young man who suits her in all respects, just because it will give her the status of a married girl, and he, the father, will be relieved of the burden of responsibility for the fact that her life did not work out. This whole world is full of money, lies, greed and pretense, and it's even more insulting that Jennie doesn't seem to feel offended or insulted at all. As if she likes to be obedient to her father's will and do everything for his approval. Jisoo felt as if she had fallen into a bad Victorian novel in which spinsters obeyed advantageous suitors as easily as napkins on the table during lunch, breakfast and dinner, and it infuriated her that Jennie did not fit the definition of "spinster" in any way, which meant that the inner flair of the elder Kim in Kim's house had a pretty serious glitch.

When the outdoor clock with angels and bows on the facade began to strike, announcing dinner, Jisoo even felt relieved, because with every moment spent in this room, she became more and more stuffy, as if someone put his hand on her chest and inexorably, slowly pressed her, depriving her of breath and leaving for long hours to struggle in agony without air and hope.

With an effort, she tore her gaze away from Jennie and Dustin, leaning towards each other, and followed Edward into the brightly lit dining room, where the table was already superbly set with polished porcelain: there were candelabra with burning candles, bouquets of fresh flowers in vases and many different dishes, in the opinion of which Jisoo, who had drunk more, than necessary, a brutal appetite has developed.
