"jisoo, we'll need you on in ten."

"i'm so excited to do sixteen shots! it's such a good dance, jisoonie, can we practice the dance?"

"you heard the staff, i'm on in ten."

"that's ten minutes, jisoo! let me grab a juice box, let's practice in front of the mirror in one of the rooms. i saw one of them having this huge one in the front!"

jisoo watched the maknae leave excitedly, skipping along while humming a tune to one of their songs she was singing the entire plane ride from canada to now. once she was out of sight, the eldest dropped back onto the couch, sighing quietly as she fidgeted with the hem of her hoodie. they would be doing soundcheck soon for her solo stage in ten minutes.

ten minutes. she had ten minutes to think.

think about what? she had more than enough on her plate to think about something, but which one of those things would she plan on thinking about right now in the given ten minutes?

thinking wasn't her best suit, definitely not. but thank god she didn't have to think too much about what she had to think about in the given ten minutes because that's when a thought came in through the doors.

"jennie unnie, why can't we eat the rest of those noodles! they were for free! why are we saying no to free things in the first place?"

"oh come on rosie, didn't the managers buy you snacks on the way here? you might feel sick if you practice on an overly filled stomach."

"it's better than an empty stomach, don't you think?" chaeyoung says in an attempt of convincing the other girl who was pulling her along by the wrist. "..i'm guessing that's a no. is it a no?"

"yes, it's a no" she replies pointedly, slowly coming down to a halt the moment her eyes went all around the waiting room before stopping on jisoo's quiet ones.

there were no words left leaving jennie's mouth, nor chaeyoung's- well, if there were, she couldn't hear them. the kims simply stared at each other, not being able to move, almost like they were in a trance of some sort from a bold eye contact.

"oh, jisoonie! have you seen lisa? maybe she'll take me to the free noodles!"

she didn't reply right away, still staring at jennie before trying to snap herself out of it before turning to chaeyoung with a smile, "yeah, she went to go get a juice box. she should still be around that area." the minute she even said yes however, the blonde took off immediately through the same doors she came through with jennie.

and it was them again. only them. how does it always end up like this?

but she didn't seem phased. jennie. jisoo could tell she was only trying to intimidate her, trying to create a reaction, trying to get.. something.

"are you going to keep staring at me?" jisoo finally asks, being that jennie was still locking eyes with her and hadn't moved an inch since she entered and stopped from the first look. "don't you have better things to do?"

"i have time to be wasted, it just happened that you were here to help with that. wasting it for me" jennie bites back with, rolling her eyes as she walked on ahead before exiting the waiting room and going into the bathroom.

she didn't know what to say. that wasn't suppose to happen, she should've said something else. something to make her fall over heels, something to make her stay, something to make her feel something. was she suppose to say it though, or jennie? she was always so far from her.

that was the thought that occupied her for the given ten minutes. how jennie was still in her mind despite her not being in jennie's.

"jisoo?" a staff asks, poking their head in from the stage doors, "we need you on now."

jisoo admits, perhaps she never got past what she put her through. but of course, it's wonderful to see how it never phased jennie. she was perfect because of that, because she never showed how she felt to anyone else. she knew how to hide herself, and how to project herself to others no matter who it is.

she's ms. perfectly fine. and sometimes, she does wonder how jennie's heart is after breaking jisoo's since that day. three years ago.
