#MaAn - Steps forward

Writer's Note : First off, just can't fathom how this story has managed to reach 7,500 + views already. It feels just yesterday when I started writing it as a whim. But thank you all for the support and love towards #Maan - Steps forward and for being patient with this story. You might want to go back and read the last chapter once to tune back into the storyline. Like it says, let's step forward now....

They were ready and had packed a change of clothes for their one day trip, knowing very well when the three friends got together, there was no knowing what was going to come next. Waiting for their friend in the living room, she wanted to talk to him about  her thoughts but was apprehensive as she could not find the right words for her mind. Such intimacy and intimate topics were never an open discussion in her earlier marriage and it felt strange for her to even think about speaking to him on this but she knew he would want her to speak her mind freely when it came to their relation dynamics. She tugged on his navy blue jacket which he had worn over a white tee today alongwith his denims. Asking her what the matter was as he looked up from his phone, he turned and faced her seeing that she was nervous in her mannerism.
She was fidgety and was absolutely unsure of what to start off with. He brought his hands to hers and lightly picked up one finger of hers to see if his touch will bring her thoughts together. She started to lightly brush her hands along his palm and very hastily started her conversation, "You know when earlier you asked me to get in the shower..... " And she had to trail off because they heard the incessant beeping of the horn and the announcement of their friend in the form of loud music. Taking their bags in hand, they proceeded to leave and lock their house. Having greeted each other with hugs and eagerness, they all were debating to being the driver for the day. Finally they agreed that the ladies shall sit in the back seat and catch up with each other and enjoy the ride while the wheel and music can be left in his able hands.

It was his car they had agreed to take and they all set themselves with their carry ons and finally got on the road. The friends had all met for the first time post marriage and their lady friend had decided in full form to trouble them all along the way. But in true friend spirit she wanted to know how they felt and most importantly how happy they were because there was no doubt that they would not be happy. Humming to the tunes of their old college songs, the energy in the car was palpable and they had never all three felt so free, happy and content in being together. The ladies in the back seat were trying to catch up on the events of the last few days. Her friend very smartly tried to pry if the newly weds had finally given each other their rightful dues after 27 years. Saying that she spends all her time with him these days, the blushing new bride indicated that she has indeed started paying off his dues. Unknowingly to the simpleton wife, her friend wanted to know if they finally became one as lovers, something which she well knew they kept on hold till the wedding. But the friend soon realised, the not so innocent looks that were being exchanged by the married couple carried an electric charge which could be felt all around the car. Very different from their colleges days, miles apart from what it used to be as business partners and a million times more intense than the MaAn she knew before marriage. After all, the three friends knew each other well and she was happy to note the ease of touch and softer tone of voice between the couple, now that destiny had finally played in favor of the love that was meant to be.

Unbeknown to the friend, the newly wedded bride was fighting a war with her newly found feelings....
