III: Unrequited

Third POV

It'd been a thousand years since the start of the war.

A conundrum to say at the very least.

Izuku stared at the scattered bodies located by the edge of the border between the two kingdoms.

Too far.

Gorgons we're going too far.

It was one thing to merely exile and or imprison the ones who couldn't follow the rules, but death?

That was too much.

Then again it was his own ignominy he faced that resulted in this response from the ruler of Daria.

"Midoriya.. are you alright?" Todoroki questioned in concern for his king that stared at the bodies that were heaved and stained the ground red.

Izuku shook his head, "No."

He should've done something all those years ago on that very night to ensure something like this wouldn't happen.

Oh how that sinking feeling of being a let down continued to look over him like a storm cloud. His own brash thinking led to so many deaths he supposed.

While his own people weren't suffering the fate he had, the were facing something much more harsher. Gorgons were known for being brutal, therefore he should've planned for this response.

Izuku turned his horse away as he and Todoroki began to ride back to the palace, knowing he'd seen enough for one day.

"Send a message to Katsuki of Daria; let him know I want to have a banquet where we'll sign on a peace treaty." Izuku stated, the wisps of wind along with his statement sending chills down his spine.

"A thousand years and now you want to make peace?" Todoroki uttered, as Izuku understood just how preposterous his line of thinking sounded.

"While I don't feel as though I made a mistake by exiling gorgons, it's clear the king of Daria believes so and is a making an example to my people just what he thinks of my law." Izuku answered, "Enough is enough."

Izuku hadn't seen Katsuki in years, and while the thought of seeing the man in so long drove fear into his heart and mind, maybe it would be a lot easier to persuade him to sign if they were face to face.

Todoroki slowly nodded, hesitant on the idea but if Midoriya had felt sure enough to come up with such a suggestion, surely it couldn't be so bad.

"I'll work on a formal proposal right away then." He responded, watching a content look form on Izuku's face.

A shift in uneasiness spread within Todoroki, following the next questions he had asked, "If he is coming to the palace, isn't that dangerous for little Katsuro if the gorgon senses his presence?

He watched Izuku swallow hard before ruffling his green curls, "I'll have Asui ensure west wing placed under constantly lock at all times, and I'll increase security there as well."

Izuku furrowed his brows, his tone going deep with fury, "I already lost a baby to those damn gorgons and I'll see to it it never happens again."
