V: Clementine
Third POV
On his onyx lined throne, Katsuki stared down at the lowly messaged elven who'd been tossed harshly on the ground and was surrounded by gorgon guards.
Kirishima snatched the small rolled up paper from the brown satchel the messenger carried before handing it over to his liege.
Katsuki whispered under his breath, reading the invitation with such fascination in his eyes.
"Is this some kind of a joke?" Katsuki finally raised his voice, his eyes dangerous against the poor elven who was frightened for his life.
"No sire, my king merely wishes to come to an agreement." The elven responded, his tone shaky but that was understandable.
Katsuki tore up the paper into tiny pieces, stating how it made him sick to continue to look at it.
"Go." He commanded, "Go back and tell your king my people will be there in two weeks time as planned, but we expect everything to be up to gorgon standard."
The messenger nodded furiously, feeling his shoulders get grabbed and being dragged away.
His Carmine eyes darted over to Kirishima who stood quietly to the corner, awaiting any orders he would receive patiently.
"Kirishima," Katsuki started up again, "The veins on your forehead is twitching and your fingers keep tapping your thigh."
"What do you want to know now?"
Eijirou Kirishima was a long time friend for Katsuki, and quite possibly one of the only people Katsuki could tolerate in this entire kingdom of his.
"I mean no disrespect when I say it but," Kirishima bowed his head, "Don't you feel like it's a bit much?"
Katsuki raised his brow, turning his head slightly but not all the way to look at Kirishima.
"I mean, all he did was exile gorgons, and arrested those who refused to leave but he eventually let them go." Kirishima murmured, "I don't think he's all bad..."
Those words reminded Katsuki of that night he and Izuku shared the first time underneath that old wisteria tree.
He placed his fingers onto his temple, his voice going low, "That is what they'd have you believe. All of us really."
"Elevens, especially the royal ones enjoy the idea surrounding them that they are these perfect little angels who could do no wrong, and my dumb self believed one all those years ago before the war broke out." Katsuki reminisced, a bitter taste left in his mouth.
"Then they did even more damage by casting out my people, so I feel I responded as I should've."
His eyes finally met Kirishima's feeling like there was nothing more to say.
So the redhead spoke.
"What if..." he trailed off, not sure if he even wanted to say it, "What if all those years ago, he was hurt too and responded in a way similarly."
"We don't know why he exiled all gorgons, but I know you exiled and killed all elven in response to how badly your people had been treated by the elven king."
