You had become fearless. Your therapist had worked with you for years to get you through this. Why on earth could you not hold the gaze of this man you bumped into? It wasn't for fear or anxiety. It was intimidation. Yet how could such a scrawny figure of a man be intimidating? Perhaps it was his flowing, wavy, controlled yet wild chestnut brown hair. Or perhaps it was the way his eyes sparkled and smiled as he did. And then there were his lips. They looked so smooth and delicate. So adorably kissable. This incredibly handsome man you had just bumped into, and you lost your voice to apologize. You smiled because your words got caught in your throat. A few seconds of silence seemed like an eternity of beautiful awkwardness. Then he broke the silence with his technical sounding, silky, confident voice.
"Did you know that a smile is the first trait you notice about a person?" he smiled as a child would if he received a cookie. And you had to admit, it was absolutely adorable. Figuring that was enough to start things off, you finally introduced yourself. You offered your hand out to shake his and he grinned again and said, "Do you know how many germs a human carries on their hands on average? It's actually more sanitary to kiss." He laughed hoping you would realize it was a joke. You blushed slightly and laughed.
"Agent (Y/N). First day on the job. I was just heading up to the round table because Hotch called us."
"Dr. Spencer Reid. I'm on Hotch's team too, but you're going the wrong way. I guess no one has given you the grand tour yet. Once we get back from the case, I'll go ahead and show you around. But we should head up there before he calls Morgan to come get us." He laughed at his own joke, and you laughed along even though you didn't know who Morgan was.
You followed Spencer up the stairs and into the room. You took a seat next to him and tried so very hard to focus on the case at hand instead of the case sitting to your left.
