Does time erase past grudges?

Have you been in a situation where someone does something to you, and once they realize you were mad all those years back, they make you sound petty that you would hold on to something for years.

Let’s take a bully for example. You meet up with them after years; they act all friendly…do you return the same demeanor despite the years of pain that have spiraled in your life, affected who you are, and the choices you have made in your life? Big Bang Theory is a good example. Sheldon and his friends have been bullied and when their bullies came back…. Do they not have the right to be mad? Are they being petty?

No! Here is the problem with telling someone how to feel when you have wronged them. It is one thing to not apologize during all those years, but to now laugh at them and say seriously, you have been angry/mad/sad/hurt all this time…It’s been years…It’s wrong because those wrongful deeds, whether small or big…You don’t know how it hurt and how that event led to another and affected their life negatively. Maybe those victims had dreams, and remembering your hash words made them not confident to take on opportunities and lose out and what could have been…

Perhaps, the victims should have said something. Yes, sometimes it is obvious when one is mean and other times not. The bully might not know or be aware of their actions. In that case, you can’t hold something against someone who had no idea and no intention. This is why it is important to build character as an individual and a tough skin because the world can be cruel. It is also important to learn to open up, and have the guts to do so regardless of what anyone thinks.

So, time does not erase past grudges. Don’t tell someone how to feel and for how long. If you are wrong, just apologize and try to fix it. It doesn’t mean they will forgive you, but it doesn’t hurt to try. It can give them closure.
