Chapter 10 . Secrets

" Ok let's get back to business , you give me the book I let you and your friends go"

I was still in shock , this man was exactly like the man I had dreamed about. I needed to find more information about him, how did he know about the book? Who is this guy?

I felt the weight of the book weighing my shoulder down, I couldn't lie , it would be too easy for him to check , I had no choice , I reached for my bag but before I could reach it his hand swooped it up. He looked at the book like it was a long lost treasure or something , it was like he was looking for it all his life. He just looked at it and smiled.

"Atlast !" he said as he opened the book.

I was really dumb for leaving the pendant in the book , I should have taken it and lied about not being able to open the book ,too late anyway I thought .

He opened the book and suddenly his expression changed . He frowned at the book like something was wrong, he turned the book towards me looking for an explanation .
" What language is this? He questioned
It looked alright to me, I could read it perfectly and then it hit me , only I could read it , I could actually use this as an advantage , my dad was a genius , he made sure it was only Iwho could read the book , I tired my best to retain a perplexed face and look as shocked as he was.

" I have no idea , this what that shocked me" I said trying to sound as convincing I could be.

" hmm well then escort this man to the library and makes sure he finds a way to read it "
" We will meet again my friend " he said as he left the room .

Soon I was being led across several hallways and rooms , this house was huge ! . A huge wooden door opened as I got shoved inside the room and locked. I looked around but all I could see was books.
The books were all stacked perfectly in alphabetical order , it was the biggest library I have seen besides the library of congress.
" what do you want young man" a voice croaked out from nowhere .

I turned around to find a very old man staring at me, his face lit up as soon as he saw me.

" You Nicholas 's boy ? " he questioned .

" Yeah how did you know ? " I asked sounding surprised and new to being suddenly addressed as " Nicholas 's boy " .

" You look just like him " he said as he beamed at me .

"Your father and I were head researchers at the same department We worked together for several years before you know , I was spared because I was the only one capable of continuing his work .

" What exactly happened?"

" Your father was a genius , he was obsessed with the ancestors and the olden ways , no matter how many people mocked him he still continued his research . He was fascinated by the past , he wanted to unlock secrets that were considered to be myths. Your father found out that every human being is capable than doing more , he found out about the pineal gland and its abilities. According to him every person when he thinks emits a frequency that is too weak to detect , but if you can train your mind to pick up that frequency then you can actually hear what they were thinking.
The activation of the pineal gland allows you to use your entire power of the brain . He explained it to me how it works and believe me I was baffled."
" This news would be in the cover page of every newspaper and magazine , it was the scientific breakthrough of the century but it was declined. That's when Mr. Novak came in .

Mr. Novak ? I questioned as I was desperately waiting for a reply.

Mr. Novak was the replacement for the magistrato post . Now he was very clever man, all he looked at was bussiness.
When your father approached him with the news , he too was first baffled but he had other ideas in mind. He wanted to sell this knowledge to two superpower countries , America and Germany . He wanted to double sell it and start a war. The war would be be a massacre and both countries will lose a majority of soldiers . With the soldiers gone , both the countries will be left defenceless and weak leaving his own country Russia as a major superpower . He could literally rule over the world".

" when your father found out about this , he tried to stop him by revealing this news to the public but he was killed. But your father was really clever , he burned down all his research and made sure no trace of it was found except one book, which he hid discreetly . He coded the book which could only be broken by his son.Mr. Novak cannot implement his plan unless he finds the book, because only your father knows how to unlock the true potential of mankind and that is why he needs you!"

I was shocked , I never knew that there was this much history to it, my father had died for a great cause but I will not let his death go waste .

" what about the special drink ? " I asked and suddenly fear flashed across his face .

" How do you know about the drink ? " he replied sounding very shocked.

I didn't know whether I could trust this man but he seemed to know a lot and could help me so I took out the book from my bag.

"Oh holly " he said as he held the book and looked at it .
" Who else knows about this ? " he questioned .

" Everyone including the scary dude Mr. No hawk or whatever the guy's name is, but the good thing is he doesn't know how to read and doesn't know only I can read it too , so that puts me in a safer position.

"Aah that's good " he said .

" Now about the special drink , it has many ingredients which are mentioned in the book, but there is only one ingredient which is impossible to find , even your father, doesn't know what or where to find it.
After years of studying ancient texts and documents he prepared a recipe to brew the magical drink , "The drink of the gods" as he called it. That one ingredient is rumoured to be found by him , I don't know , it's just a rumour.
This drink stabilises your mind , increases the activity of the pineal gland and helps in stimulating it. Once the pineal gland is activated there are several hormones that are released which enhance your ability".

"Woah , so this drink has actually been manufactured before ? I questioned

" Yes , it was a very common drink , that is why people actually lived longer and healthier , but soon the recipe was lost .

I was really amazed at the fact that technology this advanced actually existed a long time ago, maybe our ancestors weren't crazy after all I thought as I listened with rapt attention to the old man as he began telling me about my father.
