Kakashis POV:
Opening my eyes slightly at the sound of my blaring alarm, I got out of bed, Dad wouldn't be too pleased if I was late getting out of bed, because today would be the first day at the academy, it would be a drag though because all the other pathetic children would be in the same class as me. No matter, I'll just have to graduate the academy as fast as possible, that way I'll be able to quickly advance through the stages and be better than any of these shinobi. I'll be the best of the best.
"Kakashi, come on or you'll be late. Also we are picking up some lunch on the way, so you need to hurry." Dad said before grabbing his shinobi vest and zipping it up. Tiredly I nodded and walked back to my room to get ready, wearing the same clothes I always wear, dad said when I graduate, he'd get me some brand new ones with armour and everything.
As we both pulled on our sandals, and grabbed our bags, dad told me to grab another clean bento box, I didn't know why but did as I was told.
We walked slowly as the cherry blossom trees began to loose their flowers because winter was nearing, and it was a beautiful sight to see.
"Kakashi, when I'm gone, I want you to promise me something..." father said before pausing for my reaction.
"Why would I need to promise anything, when you aren't going to die anytime soon. You have to see me become genin remember?"
"Yes yes Kakashi, I know that. But I want you to promise when I go that you will always keep looking forward and not dwell on the past. It's essential that you don't, otherwise you will fall into a dark hole and not be able to get out of it. You need to promise me that you will live a good life, even if I'm not there beside you." Dad said with a sad smile on his face. I was confused, why would he say something like that, I mean he hasn't been on any long missions recently, and his next is a few days away. He always comes home because my father is the strongest shinobi I know.
"Yea I guess. So stop being so mushy about everything, it's embarrassing..." I muttered, a soft heat forming on my face.
"Oh and I expect you to do something about that little crush of yours Kakashi, I think she'd make a good wife for you. Strong an-"Dad started before I shut him up by snapping.
"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't like her! She's not strong, and I wouldn't even want her to be my wife! Hell no." I answered back.
"Sure Kakashi, sure..." Sakumo said, unconvinced at my mini speech on why I don't like Kazumi.
"Then why would you know who I'm talking about if I didn't say her name, I could have been talking about any girl, yet you thought of Kazumi Uchiha. That says a lot more than your words Kakashi." He continued.
I sighed in annoyance and anger before laying my head against his shoulder in silence.
He wasn't right, I couldn't like her. I am a Hatake for crying out loud! I have to be strong and can't have weak links, like her.
We headed for school when an Anbu came up to my father, his mask resembling that of a lion, I didn't know that there was anyone with a lion mask. "Sakumo Hatake-san, the Hokage has requested to speak with you immediately." They said, the voice muffled by the mask.
Sakumo instantly stood up straight and lifted me off of his shoulders. Seeing his body language completely change, I assumed it was very important and that I wasn't needed there.
"It's okay father, I'll head to the academy. Stay safe." I said, lazily giving a wave before I continued the trek home.
"Okay Kakashi, I'll be home in time to tuck you in, just buy some lunch before you get to school." He replied with a sigh, before disappearing with the anbu.
-Three hours later-
As I arrived at the academy for my first day, I glanced around at anyone else who was here, there were a lot of civilians and a few from clans, like the Inuzukas, and Uchihas.I walked into the school building and went to the wall which held the roster of our mark for the entry exam, and what class each student was in. Looking at the paper there were a few names that I could pick out.
Kakashi Hatake - 98% - class 1B
Kazumi Uchiha - 98% - class 1B
Ibiki Morino - 91% - class 1A
Anko Mitarashi - 89% - class 1B
Ebisu Kimiko - 89% - class 1B
Genma Shiranui - 83% - class 1A
Asuma Sarutobi - 80% - class 1B
Kurenai Yuchi - 77% - class 1A
Emile Yokohatsu - 72% - class 1A
Maito Gai - 69% - class 1B
Hayate Geko - 68% - class 1A
And at the bottom,
Obito Uchiha - 33% - class 1BThere were many others, but I couldn't be bothered reading them. It was annoying having to compete with the likes of Kazumi for the top spot. We were both tied, but my name was first.....
Walking over to the class room I noticed that I was one of the first people there, only others were some civilians sitting near the front, so I took a seat near the back.
As soon as the bell rang, in ran the other pitiful brats, and as soon as the unworthy females noticed me, they quickly sprinted their way up and tried talking to me.
"H-hi I'm Gaki Shizukani, can I sit n-next to yo-" she began before I interrupted,
"No."
The girls kept it up though, each introducing themselves as if I gave a damn, which I didn't.
"Out of my way!" One of the girls said, she had light pinkish eyes, with a hint of purple. Definitely a hyuga, but not a very nice one. She shoved all the other girls that had crowded around my table away before sitting beside me.
"Hey there~ I'm Taki Hyuuuuuga~ I'm sure we will get along Kakashi. Would you be my boyfriend?!" She asked in a smooth voice. A look of disgust flooded over my face at her confession.
"No, now all of you... GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME!" I yelled, I never lost my cool, but they were bugging me to no end.
The teacher then walked in just as the commotion was ending and told everyone to go back to their seats in a stern and authorities voice. This made the girls desert me instantly.
"Now I will take attendance, Owari Aburame," he asked. Here was heard before he continued. "Taberu Akimichi, Osore Daichi, Maito Guy, Kakashi Hatake, Tachi Hyuga, Ebisu Kimiko, Anko Mitarashi, Asuma Sarutobi, Hebi Shippo, Kiki Tabera, Kazumi Uchiha....." he said, repeating all the names from the paper until he reached Kazumi as no one responded, so he called again.
Running was heard down the hall as the door burst open and Kazumi Uchiha with her twin in tow, ran into the classroom, and called out here. Both of them were out of breath as they seemed to have sprinted to the Academy.
"Sorry Sir, we were helping an older lady to her house with a large amount of groceries from the market and we lost track of tim-" Kazumi began rambling but sensei wasn't having any of it.
"Detention." He simply said and continued with the role as if nothing happened.
Tch imagine coming late to class on the first day.
