-Present-
Kazumi's POV:
The next day we were woken up by Baba, who had come home late last night from playing bingo with the other elderly ladies.
"I'll tell you both what," Grandma started when we were all seated around the breakfast table. Both of our eyes rose from our bowls of cooked rice to meet the soft ones of our grandmothers.
"If you do well in the academy today, I'll cook up some of your favourite, Inarizushi!" grandma proudly exclaimed. This put a wide smile on our faces as we gave each other a smirk. We love ourselves some Inarizushi, especially Obito who could survive his whole life on it. This would boost his determination to do well in the academy, that and his new rivalry with Kakashi.
"All right! Now that's some serious motivation!" Obito yelled out.
I grinned at my brother's determined expression. This was found to be a long day...

Upon arriving at the academy, I noticed Kakashi was the only one in the classroom, and he showed a slightly surprised expression at seeing us early for once. We were never early to class.
Obito and I reached our seats, a row in front of Kakashi to dodge the 'Kaka touch', both of us sticking our tongues out at the idiot who rolled his eyes in response.
Sitting down, I began to flip through the pages of a Genjutsu textbook. I already wanted to be good at Genjutsu, but I can only do basic ones without my Sharingan, and because we were a part of the branch clan, it was unlikely that it will ever even unlock which made our chances slimmer to become ninjas.
"Ooh Obito! Ever heard of the Genjutsu called Izanagi? Apparently, it' really powerful and lets an Uchiha be able to alter reality by breaking the laws of nature and turning illusions into reality!" said excitedly.
Turning to Obito to see his reaction, he lit up in surprise and excitement, showing that he too was interested in a Genjutsu of this calibre. But before he could voice his opinion, Kakashi cut in.
"Tch, as if either of you could pull off the Izanagi. You don't even have the Sharingan!" Kakashi remarked snidely, causing me to remember that he was still in the room with us, as it was the first thing he had said since being here.
"Hn, well it's not like you could do it-" I muttered lowly before my brother interrupted with a shout.
"Shut up you loser! My twin is great! And when I become Hokage, and Kazumi becomes my personal advisor, I'll prove to you that we aren't the scum you take us for!" Obito yelled proudly, loud enough so that Kami could hear him.
"You, who is flunking the Academy, are going to become Hokage? Yeah right," he said before turning to me. "It must suck having the family's disappointment as your twin brother, hell Kazumi, you're just as bad. Both of you would be better as nutrients for the dirt." Kakashi stated lazily with a shrug at the end, before he turned back to the book he was reading.
I wanted to burst into tears at hearing his words. He was just like everyone else who thought we were dead-beat and useless and didn't deserve the title of Uchiha. It hit hard knowing Kakashi felt the same.
I dared not let a single tear leave my eyes, I would not be seen as weak in front of him.
Obit remained silent, I knew that what Kakashi said also hit him like a knife. We were always told by our clansmen that we shouldn't have been born or that we should kill ourselves. The only person who stood by us was Baba, who always had something nice to say to us. She was the only one we could trust.
Soon after Kakashi spoke, students began to flood through the doors, getting ready for class to begin. This also included Kakashi's many fangirls. Bleh...
I always detested anyone who could possibly enjoy the company of Scarecrow, especially fangirls. They hated me and Obito because we hated Kakashi, though I had taught them a lesson about insulting my brother so they resorted to glares and whispering behind our backs. But they were pretty funny to scare because they screamed like babies.
There was one time when I practised my Genjutsu on the meanest girl Tachi Hyuga, where Kakashi's decapitated head was laying on her desk. Tachi was from the branch family and the oldest daughter of Hizashi Hyuga. She was Kakashi's #1 fan which meant the bullying was worse.
She humoured me today by screaming over the scattered body parts of Kakashi that lay around the room.
"KAKASHI" she yelled in horror.
Quickly releasing the Genjutsu, I fought to hide the giggles that were erupting from my mouth, as Kakashi sighed at my antics. Obit I just looked confused but figured I was up to my old tricks again and smirked.
A cocky smile glazed over my features as she began to stomp over to my seat. Tachi's anger fluctuated dramatically as she reached my desk, Obito looked slightly scared but knew I could handle myself well.
"Why does a little wench like you have to be in this class? You have no hope of becoming a real ninja, and your hopeless brother can't even throw a shuriken! You're weak and pathetic, just like your dead parents!"
"You're worthless...." She finished, emphasising on 'worthless'. At that comment I stood up , pushing the chair back violently whilst I rose. I roughly grabbed her shirt, pulling her so her face was inches away from my own. Seething rage overcame me as I glared straight into her fear ridden orbs.
"Don't you DARE insult my family again, or I will personally see to it that you don't have one...." I announced, lowly expressing the last line so only she could hear it.
Her eyes widened in shock and fright, when I dropped her down. An almost sweet smile gracing my features, that only she would know the real meaning of.
~~~~~~~~
Finally we were let out to break where I sat with my two friends Obito and Rin. She so obviously liked Kakashi, which I didn't think made sense as Obito had an even bigger crush on her, but she was oblivious to the fact.
Sitting out on the lush grass of Konoha, new began eating our lunch when I spotted something. Grandma had made us Dango! She was always such a good cook/baker, which led to me learning each of her recipes off by heart. Cooking had always been a hobby of mine. Obito didn't have the attention span to learn to cook or bake efficiently, and always had the food turn out tasteless, burnt and rubbery. not very appetising, not that we ever complained about it to him.
"YESSSSS! DANGO!!" Obito proudly exclaimed, showing off the sweet ride dessert to anyone that would look our way. Though any person who did turn their head turned back almost immediately after seeing Obito in annoyance.
Sighing at my brothers antics, I glanced over at his giggling face and couldn't help but burst out with laughter. Obito also couldn't help but start howling in amusement to the point where others were staring with accusing looks. We didn't care, we had each other and that was all that mattered.
