(Hello there, readers. I hope you enjoy my first oneshot. The idea was suggested by @satanicslasher. If you would like a certain oneshot made, please leave a comment!)

You made your way down the hallway, checking over your shoulder in case one of the Skeksis was following you. Ever since you'd gotten to this world, you've become a sort of "prize" to the Lords of the Crystal. They preyed on you like hungry wolves, tracking you down and devouring every bit of information you could tell them about your world. Everyone fought over you like greedy children at the dinner table, insisting you should sit beside them, with any excuse they could make up. The only reason you put up with this crap is the fact that you felt guilty if you didn't accept their rather generous offers, and even if you didn't care for that, you had nowhere else to go. You had essentially trapped yourself in here. However, there was always one thing you could look forward to.

"Hey, Rian." You smiled at the Stonewood Gelfling as you neared him, automatically waving. He was casually chatting with his Drenchen friend, Gurjin, but he immediately turned his attention at the sound of your voice.

"Hello, Mx (Y/N).." He bowed dramatically, a habit he had picked up that annoyed you to the core. And yet, you couldn't help the grin tugging at the corner of your lips as you rolled your eyes.

"Welp, guess that's my signal. I'll leave you two alone." Gurjin rolled his eyes at his comrade's actions, spinning around and leaving the area as you giggled. Their friendship dynamic never ceased to make you laugh.

"So, how are you, (Y/N)? The Skeksis been treating you alright?" The Gelfling asked half-jokingly, raising an eye ridge. You had told him about all your hardships since your arrival, and he had always been the one to comfort you, even at your worst. He's the only thing that kept you sane.

"Yeah, I guess," You shrugged, gazing at the floor. "Apparently there's supposed to be a big dinner tonight. Don't know what it's about, though."

"Ah, I see. Perhaps the lords have finally found a way home for you." Rian tried to encourage you, but you could see the force in his smile and the dejection in his eyes. It saddened you to see him like this, hoping for you to get back to your world while he also became closer with you. It made you feel terrible.

"Mhm.." You nodded, scratching the back of your head. You seriously doubted that the Skeksis would simply let you go home, even if they had found a way for you to get back. Loud shuffling suddenly echoed through the hallway, clearly not that of a Gelfling. Rian swiftly turned to you, a look of desperation in his eyes.

"Listen, (Y/N), I-"

"Finally, there you are! I've been looking all over for you, little mx," The Scroll Keeper exclaimed. "Come, I must finish writing my historical accounts. You must tell me more about your little...Earth, was it called?..." He gripped your forearm and began dragging you to his library, rambling on about his newest tome that supposedly involved you. You gave the Stonewood a sheepish smile and mouthed him a quick 'Sorry' before you disappeared behind the corner.

Turns out, the dinner was about you. However, it definitely wasn't a celebration that found you a way home. Quite the opposite, actually.

"To (Y/N), who is no longer our temporary guest..." The Emperor glanced at you, looking you over. Your heart dropped. "...But is now our permanent guest!" The crowd of Skeksis boomed out laughing. Though, you couldn't hear anything due to the sound of your heart and soul dropping to the ground. Your ears were ringing as disbelief clouded your mind. Everything seemed to be moving in slow-motion...

The lords laughing. Gorging themselves. Ringing ears. Someone mentioning your name. Ringing ears.

Being a "temporary guest" was hard enough, but now having to stay as a permanent guest? You fought to keep your emotions in check as tears pricked the corner of your eyes. Not wanting to draw attention to yourself, you began picking at your meal, trying not to think about your current situation. Your forever situation.

"(Y/N) likes food, mmm?" Chamberlain leaned over to you, curiously watching as you chewed and swallowed a piece of strange meat. You had been placed between him and the Emperor, which you weren't too fond of.

"Yes, it's very delicious." You replied almost robotically. Don't think about it. Don't. Think. About. I-

"Wonderful! (Y/N) will get to enjoy delicious meals every night, mmm?.." He raised an eye ridge slyly. It was clear to you that he knew exactly what he was doing. You almost choked on your food as a tsunami of emotions crashed onto you, obliterating whatever unfeeling barrier you had previously created. You whipped your head around and tugged harshly on the Emperor's sleeve, earning you a violent hiss from him that would've normally terrified you. You had only one goal in this moment--get out before you start balling.

"May I be excused?" Your voice cracked, shaking as the shock finally hit you full force.

"Go ahead." He snarled, instinctively putting his arm between you and his food platter. Rushing out of the room, you held back the urge to sniff as large tears pooled down your cheeks, the chatter of the Skeksis disappearing behind you.

---

You didn't know where the heck you were in the castle; all you knew was that you couldn't stop the tears that kept overflowing from your eyes, or the stifling sobs and sniffles that you tried to keep from echoing in the halls. Every ounce hope you had received over the days, either from Rian or your unrealistic daydreams, had been completely dwindled by the lords. You hated them for imprisoning you here. You hated yourself for the same reason. You hated the universe for bringing you of all people to this hellish place. You wanted to punch and curse and kick and scream, until a small hand gently touched your shoulder. Looking up slightly while still covering your face, your blurry vision finally focused. Mira watched you, an extremely concerned look on her face.

"(Y/N), what happened? Are you alright?" She squatted down beside you, rubbing your shoulder comfortingly. Her voice was so soft-spoken and sweet that you already felt just a little better. You tried to open your mouth to speak, but everything you said came out as a stuttering gibberish mess. Eventually you just gave up, resorting to giving her a look you hoped she'd understand. Although she couldn't feel your pain, she knew you needed to be consoled.

"I'll be right back," she nearly whispered, smiling before darting off. You felt a little more vulnerable and sad now that you were alone. You wondered why Mira had left so quickly, and if she would even coming back.

Not even a few minutes passed before you heard someone racing down the hallway. At first, your anxiety sent a cold sweat down your spine--as you thought it was the Skeksis--but then you remembered they were too old and lazy to even walk at a normal pace, let alone run. However, you were still surprised to see Rian stop in his tracks as he turned the corner, staring at you with so much concern that you yourself worried if he would accidentally burst a vein.

"(Y/N)!" He exclaimed, rushing by your side. "I came as soon as I heard. Are you hurt? What did the Skeksis do?" He questioned so fast you could barely process what he was saying. You noticed a hint of anger in his tone when he asked about the Skeksis.

"I-I.." You attempted to speak, but your bottom lip began to quiver; you were so touched by how much he cared for you. Surprisingly, you began sobbing once again, despite how much you had already cried earlier. You knew you'd get a headache later on, but right now, all you wanted was to be with Rian. The Gelfling wrapped his arms around you, whispering reassuring words in your ear as he rubbed your back slowly. Even though you were still crying, you knew you'd be ok as long as you had him here with you.
