Heart of a myth

-chapter six-

Last night's sleep was the best i've ever had in my life, the bed was actually soft! And not as hard as rock, unlike my old bed which made me walk like an old man. I woke up quite a lot of times though, not because I was uncomfortable, but because I am not used to this, I am not used to this home, this bed, it's all new.

I would stay in this bed all day to just rest and not do anything but of course that isn't an option for me since Jade forced me to get ready for the day then head downstairs for breakfast. I groan as I fall out of my bed and head to the bag of clothes on the desk. I put on the sweater I found at that store yesterday then paired it with some ripped jeans that Jade picked. I think she has good taste in clothing. Might as well get enrollment over with today so I can relax until the first day of school, which is tomorrow might I add.

I walked downstairs and walked into the kitchen to find Jade pouring a cup of  brown stuff, I was not quite sure what it was.
"What are you pouring in your mug?" I questioned with a grimace
"It's just coffee, you know the thing that keeps people awake when they spend hours the night before finishing work that they thought they finished last week." she explained with an aggravated tone in her voice. 
"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."  I laughed sitting down and stealing a banana out of the bowl that contained a variety of fruit.
"Sorry, I just had a rough night after you went to bed." she apologized rubbing her face with both of her hands seemingly trying to rub the tiredness away.
"It's okay I didn't get much sleep either." I replied with a yawn.

She looked at me with a sympathetic look before smiling at me softly. "You look good, I told you those pants would fit you" I scoff as I bite into my banana "yeah yeah" she cringes since I am talking with my mouth full.
"Let's just get going so we can get this over with." she replied, grabbing her coffee and keys and started heading to the car.
"Yeah,yeah I am coming." I grumbled getting up from the chair I sat at and started walking to the car. I really didn't want to go and get enrolled into a school that I have never been to before. I have seen the shows and movies the people on Earth watch and if Highschool is anything like those movies then I am going to be in for one hell of a ride.

We arrived at the school and it was the biggest school that i have ever seen. Okay so it may be the only school that I have seen but still it was humongous. When we walked inside you could see a stairway straight away. So that means that there is a second floor, which means this place is huge. Okay anyway we walked into this office to see a lady sitting at a desk typing away at a computer. She looked very young for a school secretary but that could just be me.

"How may I help you?" the lady at the desk asked without even looking up
"I am here to enroll my nephew Madden." Jade started walking closer to the desk.
"Alright, well I will have you fill out these papers and the principle will be out in just a minute." the lady said Janice I assume because that's what the name plate on her desk said handing Jade a couple of papers and a pen 

After sitting next to Jade waiting for her to fill out the papers I got bored and a little hungry so I decided to walk around the school to see if I could find a vending machine. We never had them in the headquarters so I want to see how one works.

"Hey could I borrow five bucks Jade?" I whispered to my aunt with her writing down things the paper asked for like her number, address and even if I have any allergies which I don't even know myself...I guess we will find out when I am having an allergic reaction and I look like a baboon's butt.

"Ya sure what for?" She asked, handing me five bucks from her purse, "Well this is really boring and I am hungry so I am just going to walk around and try to find a vending machine." I stated, getting up from the chair I once sat in.

"Oh okay, be back in about 10 minutes so you can meet your principle..and do you even know how to use a vending machine?" she asked in a knowing voice, does she really think I am that stupid?....well she's right i don't.

I shrug at her question, making her laugh before adding, "Hurry up kid"  I nod before taking my leave. The halls are empty, so are the classrooms since school is over for the day but I still try to be quiet even though nobody is even here.

I wandered the halls like an idiot for about 3 minutes having no idea where on earth these damn machines are. I passed many halls and rooms that all looked boring. I soon found the machines and rushed to them now starving.

I hold the five bucks in my hands looking at all my options not knowing what i want, soon enough i find something that seems interesting, i assume i put in the money in first so i do but it won't take it, i try again and it still wont work "come on work you damn thing.." I said to myself.

After what seems like a million tries it still wont freaking work, as i was about to kick the shit out of this thing something stopped me. "Do you need help?" said a voice out of nowhere, making me jump and feel like I was gonna have a heart attack. "Holy shit!!" I shrieked while I grabbed at my chest. The guy starts to laugh a bit. "Did I scare you?" he said in a soft voice, I looked up from the ground and I faced him.

Holy shit, that's the guy from yesterday. I never thought that I would see this guy again but obviously I am now. "Yes, yes you did," I said with a playful glare. He grins before taking the money from me and putting it in the machine. "You were putting in the wrong way, what do you want?" he asked while looking at me.

"That, I want that." I answered as I pointed at the item I wanted. "Fruit snacks, good choice" I just nod while observing him, he presses the keypad then the 'okay' button and I watch the bag fall into the shoot. He bends down and picks it up for me before holding out his hand for me to grab it.

"Thank you."  I say as I look at his face which by the way is the most gorgeous face I have seen. He has emerald green eyes, He has a mullet but it actually looks better than all the other ones I have seen. He also has a dangling earring but I couldn't quite see what it was. I guess I zoned out or something because he started to talk again, "Hello? Are you going to take it?" I quickly take the bag from his hands, "Oh uh sorry"  I apologize turning red in the face.  

He just smiles before shoving his hands in his hoodie pocket. "Hm, let me guess...your new right?" he asks before leaning on the glass of the vending machine, looking right into my eyes making me even more red than I was before. "Yep haha, What gave it away?" he just looks at me with this knowing look before shrugging. "Well i've never seen you before, well at school" he says referring to the incident yesterday.

"Ugh you remember that? Sorry about that by the way.." I spoke softly while playing with the fruit snack package. "It's fine and of course I remember, it was cute." I look up at him with a confused look, not understanding how that would be 'cute', He just laughs at my expression before saying, "don't worry about it but I am guessing you're here to enroll?"

"Yeah I am, but why are you here? Isn't school hours done?" I was wholeheartedly confused since jade told me in the car that students get out early today because of meetings for the teachers. "I have detention" he said simply, "well had, i skipped" he said proudly, i stared at him for a couple of seconds, why would he skip?

"Why would you do that?" I asked, finally opening the package and putting one in my mouth. I've never had fruit snacks before so this is pretty strange. "Simple, it was boring so I left" I just nodded for like the millionth time today since i have no idea what to say next.

I look at his outfit, a plain black hoodie paired with simple black skinny jeans with rips at the knees, very dark colors compared to my bright ones, and he also has a gold chain around his neck. "But I should get back to detention though" he sighed with a small pout on his face. "Hm okay, I should get back to the office now...see you tomorrow i suppose?" I questioned not knowing if this guy has detention tomorrow or not.

"Yep see you tomorrow...what's your name?" he asks as he walks away from it a bit. "Oh it's madden" he turns back to face me with this expression I can't pin out before smirking again like he did a bit ago before walking a bit further. I stood there confused hoping he would have told me his back, I sigh before making my way back to jade before I heard his voice again.

"Emerest, my name is Emerest" he added before walking away in the dark halls.
