HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE BEGINNING. New writer? It's okay, you're under my care now. Don't be nervous, just pretend I'm an interviewer or your mentor...

WHAT IS YOUR AIM AND GOAL(S)? Are you writing a fanfiction? Or perhaps just an original story? What's the genre? Is your goal for your writing to sound beautiful or creative or- oh, I'm sorry. That's way too many questions. Try this instead. Write all of those amazing goals of yours down and I'll help you achieve them.

FANFICTIONS. I'm a big fanfiction writer so that's why I'm starting with that. Ask yourself if you are writing an AU of it, or you're simply adding an OC. A lot of fanfictions are based off an addition of an OC. When you add an OC, a lot of times, you're still following the author's plot. And that's perfectly fine, as long as you remember to give the author credit. When you follow the main plot and main dialogue, you also want to remember to add your own dialogue too. To fully make your OC fit, you must also change some of the plot (unless you want your OC to be unimportant) in a way that makes sense and doesn't disrupt the main course of events. As for writing an AU, I think it's easy and I won't entertain that. But if you want me to, all you have to do is ask.

ORIGINAL STORIES. I cannot stress enough how important it is for your plot to be fully developed before you start one of these. Writing original stories on Wattpad are way different than one a real author may write. Mainly because your readers are always waiting for your update and so if you start it off incorrectly, it'll ruin your whole story. While some of you are adept enough at writing to swiftly correct it, let me tell you it will save you a whole lot of your time if you listen to what I have to say. My advice is to develop your characters before your plot, that's why I put characters for Act II. Your main character is your base, their backstory is the beginning of your story. Their actions and the other character's actions are will help along the plot. I'll go deeper into plot in Act III.

PICKING A GENRE. You want this genre, but you're not sure how to write it? That's what we have google for, I suppose. But really, if you want real help, reading that genre on Wattpad will really do it. It certainly helped me. Now, that does not mean you should copy the writer and steal their ideas. It simply means that you should pay attention to how they write, not exactly what they write. And if you're not sure what genre you want, the advice I said before also applies, just read. Find the one that calls out to you and piques your interest. The one you know you want to write forever. Okay, maybe not that dramatic, but you get what I mean.

TAGS. You know what they say, "The more the better." More tags means more chances you'll be discovered. And that leads me to promotion. It's okay to promote, but don't just barge into a follower-packed writer's conversations. And certainly try not to sound bitchy doing it.

MAKING FRIENDS. Friends are actually quite vital on Wattpad. Wether online or your face-to-face friends, you'll need that support. Starting a story is hard, and you could use their advice. Yes, my advice is to ask for advice. It's good to look for many sources for help. You know that one person in the comments who is always telling you to correct things? Listen to them, negative feedback can be constructive. If they were being polite about it, try to friend them!

STORY DESCRIPTION. Do. Not. Make. It. Too. Long. Don't make it too concise either. And definitely don't explain your entire plot in it. I made that mistake once. Be concise with the plot, but more detailed with introducing your characters. Don't forget the hook, the suspense that pulls the reader in like a moth to a flame. Questions that get the reader thinking is also a good idea. Aesthetics in the description is not needed of course, but it'll definitely be the icing on the cake.

FONT. You know all that fancy fonts you see aesthetic-based writers use? Do you want to use them? It's quite easy to find. You can install them from an app, or like me, use an online generator (search up "Fonts copy and paste"). Make sure not to use them for your entire story, it can make the eyes pretty sore... especially if you keep changing the font. Try to stick to one or two, maybe three.

YOUR FIRST PART. I can assure you, a great deal of people do not know what to do for their first part, chapter, or act. Whatever you want to call it. Here's some of my title ideas:

━ AUTHOR'S NOTE.

━ INTRODUCTION.

━ EPIPGRAPH.

━ SYNOPSIS

━ [INSERT TITLE OF YOUR STORY]

━ CAST.

They're all self-explanatory, so I'll skip the elaboration. My personal favorite is the "[INSERT TITLE OF YOUR STORY]". I favor it the most because all of the things I just listed can be put into it, including other things. This is also where you can add those aesthetics of yours; for example, moodboards, character quotes, and those extra sparkles and whatnot. Also, for your first part, this a good place to add your credit to an author, if you are writing a fanfiction, you could also do it in the story description. If you are writing an original and you are that author, it's good to remind others that this is your work. That means warn them about copyright or how you'll beat the hell out of them if they try it.

𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐑'𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄

ALRIGHT! THAT CONCLUDES OUR FIRST SESSION AND ACT. I APOLOGIZE IF THAT'S A LOT TO TAKE IN. BUT HOPEFULLY IT REALLY HELPED YOU. OR, IT JUST LEFT YOU WITH MORE QUESTIONS. BUT THAT'S WHAT REQUESTS ARE FOR!
