Chapter 2 The Facility

After he landed, he was taken to the facility in an umbrella transport vehicle. It looked the part, so the checkpoint guards didn't suspect a thing. Leon felt a little nauseous. Nerves, he had never gone undercover before. He drank some water and tried to shake the feeling away. He couldn't show that something was off in the slightest. He shifted uncomfortably. They had him wearing a two piece suit and tie. He had to look the part of an inspector from higher up in umbrella. He hoped nobody would find it odd.

The car lurched to a stop when they arrived at the front doors of the facility. Leon got out of the car and grabbed his briefcase, when he turned around he was met by a security guard.

"Hello, may I ask why you are here?" The guard asked politely.

"I'm Dr. Lenard Beach,here to conduct an inspection, because  of recent events the higher ups want to make sure everything is in tip top shape." Leon responded holding out his paperwork. The guard looked at the paper then nodded.

"Right this was Dr. Beach." The guard led Leon into the building to the Head Overseer. "This is Dr. Lenard Beach, he is here to run an inspection on the facility." The Guard introduced. The Overseer raised an eyebrow then looked at Leon.

"Well Dr.Beach this is certainly unexpected but always welcome, I'm Overseer David Michelson please follow me. I'll show you around." Michelson hit his wristband against a sensor and the door opened. The facility looked very similar to the NEST(the research facility under Raccoon City). Leon paused for a moment as the lights flickered and he saw blood on the ground a rotten corpse in the corner.
"Dr. Beach are you alright?" Suddenly Leon's environment changed back to as it was, Overseer Michelson was standing where the corpse had been and there was no blood.

"Sorry Overseer my mind was else where, please proceed." Leon followed behind Michelson as he showed him around each room.

"As this is a big facility we will be showing you the first half today and next half tomorrow." Michelson explained to Leon as they walked down a long corridor. "Through that door is the greenhouse. In there we are doing research on how to make crops grow faster and provide more nutrients. On top of that we are adapting them to be able to survive in both extreme heat or cold."

"Have you eliminated testing with the T-Virus on the plants?" Leon questioned. Michelson eyes went wide.

"How do you?"

"Don't worry Overseer, I have clearance." Leon interrupted before Michelson can question him further.

"Well Dr.Beach, we have had some interesting results. The plants increase in sized. They go from being five inches to 5-6 feet. The fly traps have had the most success with them mutating even further to be able to move around and they try to eat anything they can. They are very similar to the Ivy's."

"Have there been any incidents with them?" Leon probed knowing what the answer would be. Michelson's face twitched a little. Seems Leon struck a nerve.

"There was an accident once. There was a worker that got drunk on the job and he stumbled into where they were held. He was a good meal for the creatures. We had to prepare a hell of a good cover story for his family." Michelson seemed to shiver at the memory. "The footage has been deleted. Don't want it to get out to the public. Especially after Raccoon City. So, how long have you been working at Umbrella? I haven't seen you before." Michelson asked suspecting something.

"For a while now in the European Branch." Leon responded trying his best to cover. When Michelson turned around Leon quickly grabbed the tracker from his shoe and activated it. He then slipped it into Michelson's pocket. Next he was brought to the main lab.

"As you can see everyone has the latest safety equipment and the virus's are secure in a locked, temperature controlled container." Leon looked over at the container. Then approached it.
