An Absolute Blessing To This World

chapter 1; first quest, us vs toads

Their doesn't look to be many worthwhile quests for beginners. Their's one to kill giant toads, and that's the only one that doesn't have any requirements for kill quests. The rest are really odd jobs. I grab the flyer for the toad's kill quest and head to the counter.

(Y/N): "We are gonna go on this quest." I say handing the flyer to Lisa. She looks at it and catalogs it and writes down something else to the side.

Lisa: "Alright, you're all set to begin this quest. Once you get back, we will give you the rewards that you have earned for the day." She says with a smile. Before I could say anything, Aer pulled me to the spot the flyer said had the most toads.

Aer: "So, how are we going to handle these toads?" She asks as if I didn't already think of it.

(Y/N): "Toads are weak to electricity, right?" I ask, already knowing the answer.

Aer: "Yeah, why?" She asks me while looking confused.

(Y/N): "I'm gonna punch them with lightning." I say with a smirk.

Aer: "You don't mean you want to..." She says worried about how safe what I'm going to do is. At her words, I nod. "B-but that's completely crazy. The likelihood of both of us surviving that is very, very low." She says very worried. I start walking towards the toad that I'm facing getting ready to use magic for the first time. When the toad notices me I stop and draw two of the same rune simultaneously.

I felt electricity start to flair up around me as lightning suddenly surrounds my hands like a thin glove. Even though I know the consequences, I don't say the activation word.

(Like this, but no ball and on both hands)

Right when the toad gets close enough, I throw a right jab, and the toad dies almost immediately. I then notice a second toad hopping towards me. Once it got close I punched it with my left hand. I turn to see Aer about to be eaten by a giant toad. I immediately started drawing the rune in the air. Right when I finish drawing, I get pulled back, and into a toad's mouth. Right when it chomps down on me, it dies. I open it's mouth to find Aer over two dead toads.

(Y/N): "Aer, let's pack up and head back to the guild." I shout over to her. I grab the toad that tried to eat me and start stuffing it in my bag. After I got that one in my bag, I walk over to the other two that I killed and do the same. When I turn to Aer, I see their are no toads.

{Time skip}

Once we got back to the guild, I walk up to Lisa and reach into my bag to pull out a giant toad. When she saw the toad, she stops me and leads us to the back.

Lisa: "What is up with your bag!? A giant toad shouldn't be able to fit in there!" She practically shouts.

(Y/N): "They are enchanted with spacial magic. I did it by accident, and I am still not sure how." I say, making it up on the spot. "Either way, we completed the quest, and brought the giant toads incase you surve them." I say.

Lisa: "What!? How!?" She says completely shocked. I honestly don't think that nobody has ever completed that quest within the same day they got it. "We've lost many noobs that took that as their first quest." She says.

(Y/N): "Then why did you let us go on that quest!?" I shout at her.

Lisa: "I was confident that you would come back alive because of her class." She says while pointing at Aer. "Not complete it." She says.

Aer: "I only killed two" She says like it was normal. Lisa looks absolutely shocked at me.

Lisa: "How?" She asks as if she didn't know the toads weaknesses.

(Y/N): "I used some lightning." I say like it's not a special thing. The spell itself is easy enough to learn the first half.

Lisa: "Lightning magic is advanced magic, where did you learn it from!" She asks about my learning.

(Y/N): "I learned magic from a book. Is it really that advanced?" I ask making it sound like I have a natural affinity towards lightning. "Lightning is the most advanced magic in my book. That might be mage wings." I say trying to make her even more stunned.

Lisa: "You should be considered for a high mage in the capital. You definitely have the talent for it." She says completely shocked at what I can do.

(Y/N): "I only know three spells right now. I'm sure that there are many more powerful mages than me." I say the honest to gods and goddesses truth, but that seems to flabbergast her even more.

Lisa: "How do you only know three spells?" She says, almost falling over. Before I could say anything, she holds up her hand to stop me. I guess she has had enough shock for today. "Your completion reward is 7 gold and 5 silver. And for the toads you have we can purchase them for 2 silver each." She says, handing over a bag of coins. "I already turned one gold into 20 silver for you." She says. I take the toads out of my bag and she hands me 6 silver coins, then Aer does the same with her two toads and receives 4 silver coins.

(Y/N): "Alright Nyx, let's go find us a house." I say walking out of the room. Soon after I hear Aer rushing to follow me. Time to find a place to live.
