School has been in session for about a month, and I've begun to get used to having the house to myself for the most part. I still call out to certain sounds I hear around the house before realizing that nobody else is home. As a kid, I used to think that those were the sounds of ghosts or other spirits. But now I feel as though that's probably not the case.
Otto has been spending even less time at home, he says some virus has been spreading around our area, so he's been having to do more work than usual I don't think all this work is good for his health, he rarely gets any sleep and I've had to begin cooking everybody's food because he falls asleep at the stove.
Cooking is though! Even when I make a mistake, I can just eat it and fix my mistakes next time. The responsibility makes me want to get better and seeing how the Aiuchi family grows more and more fond of my meals day by warms my heart. I think that in the beginning, they were just being nice, but now, I think they genuinely enjoy eating whatever I whip up for them.
In the time that's passed, I've learned so much about the Aiuchi family too! Including some, embarrassing obvious truths that I should've figured out earlier.
Just a few weeks ago I was talking to Au and had the strangest feeling that she was studying my words, trying to figure something out.
"Hey," She said, interrupting my sentence "What's my name?"
"What kind of question is that?" I replied
"Just answer it okay!"
"Isn't it Au?"
"I knew it!"
"Wait it's not?"
"I was wondering why you kept calling me that! Ever since I met you, you just kept saying it!"
"Why didn't you correct me?"
"That's actually a good question, I never had the chance I guess."
"What do you mean never got the chance?"
"Whenever we talk the conversation changes right when I notice, and I get carried away with the conversation and forget."
"Oh, I know what you mean, I hate when that happens!"
"Exactly, it's so annoying! Especially when you forget what you were going to say."
"Oh yeah, so what's your name?"
"Ah, I almost forgot about that, It's Aurora! Want me to write it down for you?"
"Yeah, I wouldn't want to forget it."
"Yeah, you're pretty forgetful." She said, laughing
"You're just as forgetful as I am!" As I replied I also began to laugh.
It's such a silly situation that all you can do is laugh
I feel as though moments like that are part of life, the way we laughed and kept adding more and more jokes to the situation you never would've thought of any problems going on in the world. I believe we were born on earth in order to experience those moments because, if not for those small moments, how would we learn to fall in love? With ourselves, with the world, or with each other? The simple answer is that we just couldn't. One exciting moment doesn't come close to a lifetime of bliss. I don't think I realized it at the time, but this is when I felt I really started to grow closer to her.
"I really should've figured that out earlier huh?"
"I don't know how you could possibly share a home with someone for so long and not know her name!"
"You're right, by the way, where did you get the nickname from anyway?"
"Oh, my father came up with the name."
