The city did not seem like one that was advertised. The town looked very clean and proper, everyone wore the latest fashion and walked around like they were kings and queens. It did not look like they were being tortured by the cursed.

Harper decided to ask if anyone knew about the cursed and was surprised when no one would even look at him

"Hey, um" He tried but they just walked by "Why hello there!" He tried again, he figured third times a try right! So he tapped someone on the shoulder "I heard you guys have a problem with a cursed person!" He said it so loud and fast it startled the poor lady.

She tucked her hair behind her ear as she turned toward him "I- Im so sorry what did you say?" Her eyes scanned him top to bottom and she did not look pleased. She crinkled her nose as she brushed her shoulder where he touched as if something was there.

"Im sorry I read in the paper that there was a cursed threatening your town." Harper looked back at Mary to see what she thought but she just shrugged.

"Oh yes of corse. Are you here to get rid of that blasted thing?" The lady pulled a mirror from her bag fixing her hair.

Mary walked up to her "Yes we hoped that we could help."

The lady flashed a fake smile as she put her mirror away. "Well you will find the brat- I mean that Monster in a cave not to far out of town. Before they had a chance to say anything else the lady hurried off.

Harper looked back at Mary again looking confused "Out of town?" Mary looked around again and now she knew for sure that something was off.

Harper looked down at Chief who softly barked. "Yea I think your right Chief."

Mary looked at the dog then at him "What?" She knew that Harper and his dog were close but not crazy close.

"Mary, no matter what these people are like now I think we should still check the cave out. Even if it's causing seemingly no harm, it's still worth checking. You know?"

She nodded "I agree Im really curious now."

They made their way to the other side of town and approached this dark cave. As they stood at its entrance a cold breeze rushed by giving them goosebumps.

Mary ran away then quickly came back with a stick. She held it like a sword and looked completely serious while holding it close to her.

Harper chuckled "Whats that for?"

Mary blushed "Self defense! You can defend yourself with you anti curse stuff!"

"Okay that makes sense I guess." Harper chuckled again as the two of them walked into the cave. It was cold which felt different concreting this was the middle of Summer a second ago. The further they went it the darker and colder it was. Chills ran up and down Harpers spine as he thought of curing this one, What if he failed to meet expectations? He barely even noticed it was cold. Mary however was decently feeling cold.

"Y-you think we're getting close?" Mary shivered waking Harper from his self made trance.

"We should be! It's hard to tell though, it's awfully dark..." Harper squinted his eyes hoping to see further into the darkness and was startled when he heard the sound of Mary lighting her self defense stick.

"That should do it!" She slipped something back into her bag. "Thats why I always cary fire starters!"

Harper stared amazed at how prepared she was. He smiled then continued to walk forward.

Slowly they began to see a figure in the distance a boy curled against the wall... Crying?

Before the could see anything else the boy saw them and shouted "No! Get away!" From his hands game icicles that built into ice soldiers determined to protect him.
