WHEN MY VISION CLEARED, the four of us were standing on the Aphrodite table in the dining pavilion. Everyone that was there stood in awe, and Leo rushed off the table and threw up in one of the shrines. Not sure any god would like that.
"Jason?" Chiron trotted forward. No doubt the old centaur had seen thousands of years' worth of weird stuff, but even he looked totally flabbergasted. "What—How—?"
The Aphrodite campers stared up at Piper with their mouths open.
"Hi," Piper said casually. "We're back."
"Kody!" I heard Will call, he rushed forward and dragged me off of the table.
"Hey, Will." I gave him a hug. "Missed you."
"I missed you too."
"Oh!" I reached into my pocket and pulled out the letter from mom. "Apparently this got lost in the mail, I was waiting to open it until I got back."
"How did you get it, if it got lost in the mail?"
"Aeolus gave it to me."
"Oh." Will didn't seem fazed that I met the god of the winds. "Let's open it!"
I tore open the letter, and held it out so that Will could read it.
The letter read:
Hey boys! I got the service dog, like you recommended, and I couldn't've made a better decision on him! If you come home this Christmas, I can introduce you guys to him! I hope everything is going okay at camp, and that neither of you are injured. Anyway, if you do come home, we can make cookies and fudge, and binge all of Doctor Who, wouldn't that be fun? And feel free to bring any friends along with you!
Lots of love, mom <3
I grinned.
"That sounds like a lot of fun!" Will said. "And I wanna see what dog mom got."
I nodded. "Me too."
We took the letter to Chiron, and showed him. "Can we go?"
Chiron chuckled at how excited we seemed. "Yes, you two may go. But if you bring any friends, be aware that you'll attract more monsters, so only a couple of people can go with you, tops. Now go write your mother back, I heard that got lost in the mail, so she might be worried that your response is late."
"Okay!"
Will and I went to the cabin to write a note back to our mother.
Will wrote the note.
Hey mom! We got permission to come home for Christmas! Kody wants to bring a friend, so there will be three of us going.
I looked at Will after he wrote that. "I do?"
Will rolled his eyes. "Of course you do, and you know exactly who to ask."
Realizing that he was talking about Leo, I turned away to hide a blush.
Will laughed. "See?"
I shook my head and sighed.
Will continued writing the letter.
We're super excited to go, and meet your new dog too! I'm sure he's really sweet. And of course we would never turn down cookies, fudge, and Dr. Who! Can't wait to see you!
Lots of love, Will and Kody <3
We put the letter into an envelope, and gave it to Chiron to send back home.
