(Cadian POV)
"Are you doing homework, Lord Cadian?" I look at the seated person next to me, and see Eleanor, a friend of mine who's the daughter of an earl.
"What else." Without looking at her, I replied in gusto. "As you already know, it's the weekend tomorrow. And I want to spend the weekend relaxing, not doing stupid homework."
"Your determination to relax really amuses me." She chuckled as she continued studying her textbook.
"...listen, would you drop the Lord title already?" I panned. "It's really uncomfortable hearing that from friends."
"I'm afraid that I can't. As you know, my-"
"Yeah yeah, your mother wants you to get close to me, hoping for you to become my potential fiancé, right?" I already surmised the reason a while ago.
"Y-Yes." Embarrassed, she admitted.
For those who are wondering, Eleanor is a friend I made during the middle of my first year. She usually acts refined and curt on the outside, displaying formalities and all to other fellow nobles she isn't close with. But her true self is actually a complete one-eighty, for she's actually really excitable and adventurous. She rarely shows her true self since her mother really doesn't allow her to do so. But all in all, she's living pleasingly and continues to prove her smarts daily.
"Relax, nothing of the sort will happen," I assure her, still continuing my work, determined to finish the bane of all our existence.
"I-I hope so." She quirkly agreed.
Now you may ask, what am I doing with Eleanor alone in the lecture room for second years? The answer's simple, it's currently lunch break. Instead of lounging in my safe haven behind the school colosseum, I decided to complete all my homework for the reason already said earlier.
And Eleanor was already studying when I came into the room. So that basically sums up my current situation.
On the plus side, I used this peacetime to sort out my future plans, as well as look back on the events that transpired in the couple of days that passed. Of course, there was that situation with Rose that happened. And somehow, it resolved itself rather quickly. To my surprise, I never expected that Rose herself would apologize. It caught me off guard since I had the plan to apologize after we had sparred.
But who cares, she made my job easier. All's well that ends well in the end. Looks like I didn't have to worry that hard. It would've been bad if I lost connection with her, my plans would've been in shambles if I lost Rose from my grips.
"Hmm." I let out a hum, not because I was focusing on my homework, but because I was making the outline of my future moves in my thoughts. 'The preliminaries of the God of War Festival are approaching. I prepared enough for a showing so I don't have to worry about that. Although I'll have to prepare some new moves for the main tournament since people from other kingdoms will watch and participate. There's also that invitation to the Goddess Trial in Lindwurm but that's still ways away. Right now, there's nothing interesting happening. So I guess that I'll just lay back and wait.'
The thought of nothing engaging going on was boring me.
'*sigh*, I wish something were to happen. Where even is the Diabolos cult? How can I show 'Light' to the world if there's no threat for me cull? What's the point of all those years of betterment if I couldn't put them to good use?!'
Frustrated at the same time, I finish my homework and load my belongings into my pack. I stood up and stretched out all my frustrations, catching the attention of my dear friend.
