Ding.

Shit. Shit. Shit. Seungcheol thought as he ran down the stairs to get the fuck out of there.

His hand were shaking so much they were practically unusable. His heart was beating so hard, he felt he might just pump it to exhaustion. Everything around him felt small and pointless like he'd just start floating out of there.

These feelings weren't new to him. He'd feel these every day at some point, back when he was younger and more vulnerable. Back when he was tiny and frail and unknowing of the evils out there.

Back in middle school when there were people bigger than him, stronger than him, more violent than him.

Back when he was innocent.

But it was only the edge of all his misery. This feeling would elevate and then it would burst and all the tangled knots in his stomach would be splayed all over the floor, for everyone to see. That's what it felt like to be humiliated the way he was.

Like everyone could see his anxious inner self, a real vivid representation. That he was what he felt he was and everyone saw it.

He clenched his chest as he grabbed the handle of the door and turned it. For only a moment he felt stuck. Glued to the floor of the house. Maybe he wished he was, so he'd have an excuse not to leave. Perhaps he should have taken Vernon at that moment and let him help him the way he said.

He said he saw what they did to him. That meant he knew. That meant he was the closest thing to a safe place there could be. He wanted to get closer to him but it was hard when Seungkwan was there.

Every time Vernon touched Seungkwan, it made him feel guilty. Because Vernon knew what happened to him, what they did to him. And Vernon knew what happened to Seungkwan, what Seungcheol did to him.

He knew his every sin. He knew his dirty secret and his filthy truth. He saw every part of him and it felt unnerving. He felt guilty and ashamed and wrong.

And maybe he was supposed to.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

"Fuck." Seungcheol said before he finally opened the door and stepped out. It was time he defeat this feeling. To confront the force of his guilt. To destroy his past and never let it define him again.

To finally forgive himself and prove himself worthy to be forgiven.

With that Seungcheol left.

Vernon sat at the window, he looked out and watched as Seungcheol left through the woods. Everyone else seemed to be occupied, chatting.
Somehow only noticing now that he and Seungkwan were definitely not just talking in the other room.

The ledge was clean now. No more guts and blood splattered around. His nanny cleaned it up. Like she always did. Cleaning up his messes.

Vernon should feel content. But instead he was disturb. Like their was something eating at his soul. He just couldn't pin point it.

"He so went to do drugs," Jihoon suddenly said, standing against the window now.

"Seungcheol doesn't do drugs," Vernon said, as he stared blankly at the dark trees, swishing in the wind.

"He does. I heard he recently started smoking with Tae and Moon out back every lunch and second period," Jihoon snickered, "heard he's doing the hard stuff that makes your brain all mushy for hours."

"That's just a rumour," Vernon said, he felt his hand twitch.

"It's the truth. I got confirmation from Tae himself," Jihoon said, he pulled out his phone and showed Vernon the text messages between him and Tae. He'll admit they did look solid. "But, that's not all that Seungcheol's been doing."

Vernon finally looked up at the other boy, his stare blank but his eyes curious. "Mm?"

"He's been leaving school by himself and apparently he's been meeting up with someone," Jihoon said, which Vernon tightened his jaw for. "I heard it's super secret stuff, they pick him up in a black van and everything."

"What." Was all Vernon said.

"Yeah, around the same times, it alternates between," Jihoon said, he went on his phone again and this time he showed evidence. There Seungcheol was getting into a black car. Small video footage just clear enough to distinguish him.

"Honestly, I just think he's cheating with some fancy aunty, mmm poor Hannie he doesn't even know," Jihoon whispered to Vernon.

What.

Vernon slammed his hand down on the window ledge and his eyes darted around the room. Everyone's eyes seemed to glue to him, the room silent.

"Ant," Vernon said, he wiped his hand off and got up. "I have to go wash my hands and clean up... "

Vernon glanced at Seungkwan, "the mess..."

Everyone looked at Seungkwan and then they all ouuuu'd at him.

Vernon then went to the door and before he left he turned to Jihoon and he said, "and... that wasn't an aunty."

No.
That was my mistake.
My...
Mercy.
