"Mom! Where's my jean shorts?"

"Hanging on the close rack," an annoyed voice calls after me.

"Thanks." I barely say louder than my normal voice.

Today I'm going out with Skyler and her friend from her old school, Delaney.

I quickly pull on my shorts, knowing that I'll be the last one to Skyler's house. I'm usually always on time, but today's a different story.

It's finally summer, 3 weeks before was my embarrassing run in to with Jessica. I am so glad that summers here, so Sky and I decided to celebrate it by making our first 3 days of summer a girls weekend. Oddly, Sky's old best friend was in town so we invited her. Kinda funny how those things work out.

I ring the doorbell. Sky's mom, Mrs. Smith, answers.

"Oh hello darling, you look great!" Says Mrs. Smith.

"Thank you. It's lovely to see you again," I reply.

Mrs. Smith is like another mother to me. I like her better than my own. most of my 2 high school years consisted of doing homework at Skyler's. So I got to know her family pretty well. She has an older brother, Kyle, who's 17, one year older than us and not bad looking.

In fact he's actually really hot. he has the same wavy light brown hair as Sky and dark brown eyes. But, their features are completely different. Sky has high cheek bones and is really pretty. She has a slim body but is still supper fit.

Kyle has a lean cute face. Clean shaved of course. He is muscular but not to much muscle.

"Hey Sam," Kyle calls walking down the stairs."

"Hey," I softly reply back.

Where's Sky?" I politely ask her mom.

"Her and Delaney ate up in her room."

"Thanks."

I walk up the stairs and into Sky's room. Her and Delaney are on he bed talking and doing their nails.

"Finally! What took you so long?" Sky asks clearly annoyed. Instantly I knew something was up, she never cared if I was late or not.

"My mom wanted me to do the laundry before I came and I'm pretty sure it was at least a week worth of clothes."

"Oh, sorry," she says though I could she didn't mean it.

"It's fine don't worry," I snap her.

"Well anyway, Delaney this is Sam, Sam meet Delaney."

"It's a pleasure, I've heard so many things about you!" Delaney says.

"I hope all good," I nervously laugh. I never do good when it comes to meeting new people, hint hint why I barely have any friends.

Delaney is pretty and I instantly know I'll love her by her outfit. She has the same taste as Sky and I. Her hair is blonde with dyed light blue ends. Like Sky and I, she loves the color blue, I figured out by making small talk. Delaney is a youngest of 6.

"Well, Kyle and his friend are coming shopping with us by the way."

"Really? Huh, Sky did you forget to tell me? Or did you purposely not tell me?" I ask a rather red faced Skyler.

"Well..., I didn't want to upset you, we agreed to a girls weekend. but you see my mom doesn't trust me after I went out with you and we got lost. She is especially nervous for all of us renting a beach house for 3 days."

"Sky," I interrupt her, "how many times does it take for you to grasp I've changed ok accepting now ok?"

"Ok," she says with disappointment in herself.

"Wait, I'm confused what did you use to be like?" A confused Delaney asks.

"Let's just say I had a dark past and didn't get any help so when I got to high school I was so burdened by my past that I didn't accept anything if it was past due date."

"And you hated when people gave you complements," added Sky, "nor-"

"We don't have to go into detail," I joke interrupting her. She knew not to push further, instead asked about our days.

Delaney said how she saw her older brother get dumped for cheating then was presented looser chairman at school.

We all laugh but are almost instantly interrupted by a knock of Sky's bedroom door.

"Come in," calls Sky.

Kyle walks in followed by a very familiar face.

"Nath?" I say flabbergasted and taken aback by the person standing in the doorway head down.

"Uh hi Sammy."

"Wait you know each other." the others all say and equally befuddled as the other.

"Yah our parents knew each other since his mom and my mom were best friends in kindergarten. We've known each other before birth pretty much."

"Wow small world," Kyle says.

"Yah very," I half laugh.

"Ready to go?" Sky breaks the tension.

"Yes." all 3 of us reply.

We hop in Kyle's car and put our bags in the back since we'd be going straight to the beach house afterwords. Kyle and Nath are riding front, Sky and Delaney in the middle and me in the very back row all by myself, fun. They told me I'd have to sit there being the smallest I didn't complain knowing I wouldn't talk the whole ride anyway.

I enjoy car rides, especially long ones, to sit and think.

"Sam?" A distant voice calls to me it seems like another world.

"Hum?" I instantly snap out of my daze.

"Are you okay? You've seemed a little off this afternoon?" Sky's concerned voice rings through the car. suddenly I'm the center of attention which I hate.

"Yah, you know things at home," I partly lie and shrug.

"Oh okay, well we're here."

"Great" I say grabbing my wristlet from beside me.
