Kita had been nearby the L/n’s residents for a walk, but wanted to see his friend Y/n. He really cared for her even though she was a second year and he was a third year. This only motivated him to be a bit more overprotective of her when it came to it.

It was only 5 afterall, she could get ready for the party once she came back. “Oh sure!” Y/n eagerly agreed, grabbing her bag from her counter as she walked back down the stairs passing by the living room. “I’m going out with Kita for a bit, is that okay?”

Both of her parents nodded, they really liked the kid, he sure was a really responsible guy for his age and didn’t do anything wrong. They secretly wished that the two of them would get together, even if they didn’t voice their thoughts.

Her dad even saw Kita as a son, not worried about his daughter's whereabouts as long as Kita was involved.

“Just be careful,” he smiled, watching his daughter nod her head at his request before opening the front door.

She was greeted with Kita standing right before her, just a few centimeters away from her face. Flustered, the two of them stepped back at the same time, he had wide eyes before he laughed it off, “You want to go down to the park before going to the party?” He asked, rubbing his neck as he held a closed eye smile.

She really liked this side of Kita, it was hard to get him to show his emotions, and she had always told him to just let loose around her. And he really was trying, these little signs showed her their progress, making her even more cheerful.

“Yes!” She smiled, shutting the door behind her before grabbing a hold of Kita’s wrist, running down the street as the wind brushed through their hair. Kita felt the tip of his ears burn at the action, not sure how to feel about the whole ordeal, “Why are we running?”

“I’m just a little giddy,” she replied, turning around to face Kita with an air chuckle.

Kita stared at her, feeling a chuckle of his own erupt past his chest, “Well in that case.” He spoke up, bringing his hand around Y/n’s hand cupping hers in his own. Taking the lead, he sped up the pace, enjoying the sound of Y/n’s laugh as she trialed beside him.

Arriving at the park, the two of them stopped, beginning to walk instead towards the icecream truck after Y/n spotted it. “I’ll have a Vanilla ice cream cone, and she’ll have a (f/f) ice cream.” Kita ordered, as Y/n was about to take out some cash to pay for her own ice cream, Kita was already holding her ice cream in front of her. “But I haven't paid yet?”

“I know, I paid,” Kita said, handing Y/n her ice cream before walking over to the swings.

“Kita! You should have just let me pay for my own!”

“But that wouldn’t make me a gentleman if I let you know would it?” He asked, glancing at his shoes before turning to her, “Besides, you wouldn’t have let me pay if you saw me.” He smirked, waiting for her to catch up to sit on the swings.

It was true, she didn’t like it when Kita paid for her things, she felt like she was being a burden, but Kita always told her she was talking nonsense.

“Fine,” Y/n stubbornly replied, falling onto the swing as she glanced over at Kita who did the same, it was the first time she actually looked closely at him since he had gone over to pick her up.

He was wearing tight black jeans with a belt through the hoops, along with a white shirt on top. He looked attractive, and sometimes she wondered if she saw him more than just a friend.

“Pretty,” she whispered, the word falling past her lips so easily as if she hadn’t said it in the first place.

“Hmm?” Kita asked, turning to face her to notice she was already looking, the two locking eyes. Holding eye contact for a few minutes, Kita smiled, standing up after the two finished their ice cream. Walking behind her, he gripped the metal chains in his hands, “Want me to push you?”

“Kita, we aren't little kids anymore,” she replied, hugging herself in embarrassment.

“So? I like spending time with you, what’s wrong with two teens having fun?” Kita asked, tilting his head to the side. Kita didn’t mind if a few people stopped to stare at them while playing on the swing set.

He knew Y/n secretly wanted to do it too, “Okay fine! But not too fast.”

He chuckled as she gave in, starting off slow as he increased his pace, pushing the swing forward everytime it went back.

He stopped pushing it as Y/n picked up a steady pace, moving back to his swing from earlier as he began to swing it back and forth too. Looking over at Y/n, he found himself admiring her smile, her happy expression as she enjoyed the breeze that flowed through her hair.

He couldn't stop the oncoming smile on his own face as the two of them enjoyed their time.

“Kita, give me your hand!”

And he did, turning to hold her hand as the two were swinging at the same pace, the wind picking up to remind them about the cold night coming closer. Spending a few more minutes on the set, they got off, beginning to talk about how school was going for them as they walked around the park, their shoulders bumping each other every few moments.

Glancing down at his watch, Kita noticed it was already 6:40, “When do you have to be home?”

“Around 7, why?” She asked, looking over at him.

“Well it’s 6:40.”

Her eyes widened, “Oh I have to get back home!” She exclaimed, giving Kita a hug before running back home, waving goodbye and blowing a kiss to the boy who was left standing in place with his cheeks blossoming red.

He waved goodbye back, “I was going to ask if you wanted me to walk you back home…” he chuckled, whispering to himself as he looked up at the sky, the cold air biting at his skin before he began making his own way home to get ready for the party as well.
