"You have a girlfriend?" I asked.
Scott nodded. My jaw nearly hit the floor. I wasn't surprised that he had a girlfriend. Lots of girls quietly liked him and he did have a lot of friends who were girls. He was well liked and any girl who got him was pretty damn lucky. He was a great guy. But... well the last I checked he never talked about one girl more than the others and didn't have a crush on anyone.
"Who?" I asked.
"Camilla."
"Camilla as in sewing Camilla?" I asked. "As in... as in Evan's cousin, Camilla?"
He nodded.
"Do you even know Camilla?"
Everyone just looked at me.
"Right. Stupid question. How do you know Camilla?"
"I'm her neighbour, remember?" he asked lightly.
I glanced over to Evan. He was looking pretty relaxed about the situation. I made a mental note to talk to him later when Scott was out of earshot.
"Hang on," Lexie said. "When did you ask her out?"
"Sunday."
"And you were looking at skirts and dresses?" Lexie and I asked in the same unimpressed tone.
"Oh boy," Lexie said.
I sucked in a breath. "Guys, you don't buy your girlfriend clothes until you've been together for a few months."
Luke looked triumphant. "I told you so!"
Scott and Evan looked blank and asked, "Why?"
"Because you just don't."
"Well what else am I supposed to buy her?" Scott panicked. He panicked. Scott was the epitome of cool and calm, much the same as Dan was, and here he was panicking. I nearly let it continue, but, yeah, that was cruel.
"A scarf, hair ties, bracelets, in this weather gloves! Little things especially since you only just got together. Hell, even a tube of lip gloss is better than clothes."
Scott sighed. "So... a scarf?"
I pointed to the other end of the shop where there was a whole wall of them. "She likes blue and flowers. Five minutes."
"Five -"
"Let's go," Luke said and stood up. "Zoey, thank you. I'm about ready to kill myself. See you in McDonald's?"
Lexie and I agreed and went to finish up our shopping.
"Who's Camilla?" Lexie asked. "Apart from Evan's cousin."
"She's in my sewing class. She's really nice, but I have no idea why she hangs out with the people she does. They're all... gossipy and really boring."
"You think she'll hang out with us now?"
I shrugged and looked at a really nice knitted jumper. As if I didn't have enough of those. "So long as she doesn't steel my bestie from me she can, yeah."
Lexie frowned a little with her brows, but smiled a little too. "What is that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing really," I said lightly. "But I'm still seriously surprised you're not friends already. She was in your GCSE French class."
"Ooooooh Camilla! I know who you mean now... Ok, Scott can date her."
I picked up a couple more things and then we headed to the changing rooms. I quickly tried everything on and kept the items that fitted, but as usual Lexie took her own sweet time. I waited her out impatiently and rolled my eyes at the lady who kept an eye on the changing rooms when she passed by.
