IMPORTANT NOTE -- I never normally do A/Ns at the start of a chapter, but this is important. I had to make Zoey's eyesight a bit worse (I'll explain why more at the end of the chapter) so just go with it. Also, it makes the scene really sweet so it's totally worth it :D

Thankfully the rest of the evening went without a hitch. Dinner was wonderful, there were references to when I was hung over last weekend and how I thought I'd been kidnapped - I'd been doing such a good job of not letting anyone find out, but Grigory let it slip by accident - and after the food and a couple of hours of conversation I demanded Mum showed me the lace. She supposed I'd socialised enough that I could get lost in a world of sewing for a while. Long story short, it was gorgeous. I also re-designed the dress in ten minutes flat and Mum approved. As soon as textiles was done for the year, I had a wedding dress to make.

When ten-'o'-clock rolled around Grigory supposed he should go home. Dad suggested that Grigory stayed over the night if Dan didn't mind sleeping on the sofa. He said it was fine. I had a feeling he thought that he owed me for having sex in my bed, but didn't say anything. I just sent him a grateful look and headed to bed. It had been a long day with an early start, and I had another early start tomorrow as well.

"Who's taking me to hospital tomorrow?" I asked before we headed up.

"I will," Dad said. "To make sure you don't forget this time."

"Oh, trust me, after earlier I'm not likely too. Night."

Yawning I headed up, tugging Grigory behind me.

"Wait, I wanna get some pyjamas!" Dan called and hurried after us.

Once Dan was sorted and I'd sorted myself out for the night, I went into my room to find Grigory looking at the stickers on the bunk bed. Dan and I had been decorating it since we were little. The top half, Dan's half, was super heroes and sci-fi. My half was flowers, peace signs, animals and a few ballerinas.

"Thinking someone should conduct a study of it and use it as a tool for psychoanalysis?" I asked.

I climbed in and snuggled under the covers. I was in shorts and t-shirt pyjamas even though the night was cooling off a little. I'd be more than warm enough with both the quilt and my boyfriend. Grigory quickly undressed and folded his clothes into a neat pile on the floor. Then he slid in next to me.

With it being only a single bed, we were squashed together but I was so not complaining. He didn't either. Though he wasn't impressed that I only had one pillow that wasn't big enough to share.

"You take it then, I'm not using it," I said. My head was on his shoulder. "I can't believe he had sex in my bed. Put those on the table would you?" I passed him my glasses. I couldn't see a thing without them, but it didn't matter so much in the dark. "Can you actually see anything?"

"Not really. Why?"

"I know it's difficult to see anything in the dark, but I wondered how much you can make out. I've never not had glasses."

"Oh. Well, I can see darker bits of black which is the furniture and stuff."

"Do they have sharp edges?"

"Yeah."

"Oh. I can't see anything. It's like being blind I suppose. I used to be really afraid of the dark. Dan too. We were worried that if we had to get up in the night we'd trip over something or someone would put something in the way and we wouldn't be able to see it until it was too late. I wouldn't go driving in the dark without Dad for a few months after I passed my test. Sometimes I still don't like doing it. Especially on country roads. Even with my glasses if there're no street lights and the car lights aren't bright enough I can't see properly."
