I woke up the next morning, my back pressed against Johnny's stomach. His arm was protectively slung across my waist, holding me to him. Guilt coursed through me.

I was sure he wanted to go home, to get out of this strange town with its strange people and now I was keeping him here. I was selfishly trying to make our little relationship last as long as possible. If I could keep him here, with me, forever, I would...

"Hey Sunshine, you awake?" He asked in that deep morning voice.

I loved it when he was half asleep - he seemed so innocent then.

"Yup." I turned around in his arms, allowing him to plant a kiss on my forehead.

We lay like that for half an hour before getting up. I could've stayed there all day.

My parents left a note, saying that they'll have to work night-shifts. They wouldn't be home until early the next morning.

Johnny grinned as he read the note over my shoulder.

"What're you so happy about?"

"Your parents won't be home to check if you're here, right?"

"Yeah, so?"

"So," He said in a mock-exasperated tone. "I have you all to myself until tomorrow morning, Sunshine."

I blushed. It had never occurred to me that something good might come from my parents being overworked.

We spent the day walking through shops, eating ice-cream and pretending we could surf. In all honesty, we rented the boards, fell off of them four times and eventually used them to sit on the beach.

As we left the beach, I threw the keys at him. "Think fast!"

He caught them just in time, right before they hit him in the face.

"You sure?" He asked, his tone serious.

"Yeah, why not?"

A wide smile, genuine and bright spread across his handsome face. I held on tight as he sped through the city, howling with adrenaline-induced joy. Somewhere in my mind, I knew I should have been fearing for my life, but I trusted Johnny too much to care.

By the time we arrived at home, Johnny told me to dress up, we were going dancing again. And this time, we would be there all night. I laughed at his ridiculous request and closed my door behind me.

Picking a dress that was a seafoam green, I put my hair up in a messy, curly knot and put on some lip-gloss. Again, I went with the flats.

Dancing with Johnny made my feet hurt enough without the heels!

I closed the door behind me and looked up to find Johnny staring at me, wide-eyed. His mouth hung open and his hand was frozen on his sleeve.

"Cat got your tongue, Lawrence?"

"I-uh. You-you look absolutely stunning. Not that you don't always look stunning. It's just-"

I cut him off with a quick peck on the lips.

"Thank you." I smiled up at him. I couldn't believe that little old me had left Johnny Lawrence speechless.

We walked to the same dance place as last time, Johnny watching me almost all the way there. Every time I would look up and catch him staring, he would smile and blush crimson.

He was adorable!

They weren't playing golden oldies anymore. The place was decorated with glitter and sparsely placed tables. Teenagers milled about, talking to their friends and their boy-/girlfriends. I felt my nerves tighten at the thought of running into anyone I knew.

Johnny seemed to feel my anxiety as he kissed me on the cheek and whispered, "Pretend it's just you and me." He brushed comforting circles on my thumb as we walked onto the dancefloor, fingers intertwined.

A slow song came on and he planted his hands on my waist, my own arms moving to his neck. It felt like it was just us, even as other couples danced around us. Right there, in his arms we were in our own little bubble.

Eventually, he went to get us something to drink leaving me stranded at an empty table. A familiar face approached me.

"Hey, Billie. You look...really nice." Aaron was hesitant to speak to me. I couldn't blame him, we haven't spoken in almost a year.

"Thanks. You too?"

He chuckled at the question, Simon arriving at his side.

"Hey Billie."

"Hey Simon."

They stood there looking awkward for a moment before they sat down.

"Look, we need to talk to you about something." Aaron said, brushing his curly brown locks out of his face.

"What's going on?" They definitely had my attention. I wondered if it had anything to do with Larusso standing on Simon's porch the day before.

"You might think we've gone crazy, but...your favorite movie's characters have come to life." The way Simon said it, as though he were announcing that Frankenstein's monster was alive made me burst into laughter.

They misread this completely.

"We're serious!" They both hissed.

"I know! I believe you."

"You...do?" They cocked their heads to the side, reminding me of confused puppies.

"Well, great." Simon drawled when I nodded. "We need your help. Daniel has been hanging out with us this last week and we have to find Lawrence so they can go home."

"You guys are helping Larusso?"

"Well, yeah. What's the problem? I thought he was your favorite?"

I stared blankly at them. He used to be. I couldn't remember exactly when that changed.

"Uhm, it's nothing. I just..." What?

"Don't want to help us." Simon finished. He had always been a hot head, making assumptions instead of asking first.

"Excuse me?"

"First you stopped hanging out with us, then you ignore our texts and now you don't want to help us, because heaven forbid you hang out with your friends again."

"Oh, so I stopped hanging with you guys? That's nice." My tone was laced with venom.

"Now, come on guys..." Aaron tried.

"No, you know what? After the accident, I was in bad place. I got nightmares and panic attacks. I still do. And you stopped hanging with me because my family wasn't rich enough."

I was on my feet now, ready to leave.

"Bullshit!" Simon declared. "You developed some kind of complex and started avoiding us. We wanted to hang out with you. You shut us out."

I clenched my jaw. He had no idea what he was talking about.

Just then Johnny appeared at my shoulder.

"I think we should head out." He whispered to me, handing me a soda.

"I couldn't agree more." I said loudly, grabbing his hand and stalking off. Simon and Aaron watched us leave, their mouths hanging open.
