It was only my first year in college and yet I needed to transfer. I've already adjusted to my previous school, been assigned as the class monitor feared by my guy classmates and has maintained my A grades as a college scholar.

However, my Dad had to be assigned to another city. When he moves, the whole family goes with him, by that, it includes me. I belong to a small loving family of four, my parents and a 2-year younger brother, Marc. My brother is my opposite. He is outgoing, funny, and friendly. Sometimes, I envy him but sometimes, I don't.

New school means another adjustment.... Not again.

People say I'm aloof, I say I'm a coward, an introvert afraid of people staring at me and too insecure physically. I used to always wear jeans and baggy shirts to hide my body, not to mention a cap to hide my face. I only took them off when inside the classroom.

I used to always sit in front near the wall – blame it to my near-sighted eyes. I never got used to wearing glasses. It makes me feel dizzy.

Moving on... the first day went well. The instructor only needed to sign our form and discuss the course outline, and that's it! On to my next class... It was a bit early for my calculus subject so I decided to wait along the hallway. I saw a bench. I might as well read a book and kill some time.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" I looked up and a 5-foot-6 guy with a colorful flower printed shirt was smiling at me showing his two little dimples near his lips.

I shook my head and just as I though the conversation was over, he cheerfully smiled again.

"Transferee?" I nodded my head.

"Freshman?" Again, I nodded then went back to reading.

"But, you can talk, right?"

"Err, yes" I replied with glowering eyes indicating that I wasn't in the mood.

"Hi! I'm Jei. First year, too. And you are? What course are you taking?" he asked like a rifle firing at me.

"Ahmm, Zasha, Computer Science." Then as I wanted to end the conversation, I found him staring at me as if waiting for me to ask him back.

So I obliged, "You?"

"Computer Engineering"

"Are you waiting for your next subject?" I nodded with a smirk to answer this time.

"What subject?"

"Calculus"

"Oh, me too! Is it Section E110?" he excitedly asked.

"Ah huh"

E section stands for Engineering but I needed to take this class due to the conflict in schedule.

Jei has this flamboyant personality that I just couldn't cope with. I felt like I couldn't breathe while talking (and not talking) with him. His gestures and way of talking is way more girly than I do.

At last, the bell rang.

"Let's go!" he linked his arms with mine.

Awkward -.-
