"Where did you go to Friday night?" Cathleen asked as she nawed on a celery stick. It was after church service and I always ate a snack afterwards.

I wandered my eyes left and right. "What's it to ya'?" I asked nonchalantly. She threw the celery stick down on the trey.

"Well I don't know Rose, when my best friend leaves in the mid hours of the night, leaving me their with two drunk boys-it's kind of funny, actually- there were only two..." She raised her eyebrows referring to Harry.

I snapped my fingers pretending to remember what happened, "Ah ha! I remember now. Mom called the party joint because apparently I needed to do my homework before going out and I didn't want to drive back with drunk boys so Harry walked me home, and I guess he never went back to the party." I shrugged, trying to play it off best I could. She narrowed here eyes at me as she dipped her celery stick in some ranch and took a crisp bite.

"If you say so." She gasped and through her celery stick down again. "You missed it! Oh my word, someone ruffed Don up bad." Her eyes were wide. I cringed at the sound of his name, "Is that so? By who?" I picked up my glass of water and took a sip.

"Dunno, but Don is real angry. Nelson him and the boys are going to ruff the guy up though!"

"Don doesn't know who beat em' up?" I asked slowly. "Dunno that either."

"Well I'm sure Don had it coming for him." I smiled at my own words.

"What are you so smiley bout'?!" Cathleen leaned over and poked my shoulder. I laughed, "I'm not, I'm not!"

I picked up the tray of celery and dressing and tossed it in the sink along with our empty water cups. "Speaking of Don, he wants to see you." She added. My breath hitches in my throat. "O-oh. When?" I asked. She shrugged. "I guess whenever he stops bye."
