I'm sorry to say this, but I don't think I can finish this book. I have grown a lot as a story teller and I kinda just grew out of this book...
It's been a long time since I published the first chapter and made the decision to start this book. I've grown a lot as a storyteller and I've honestly grown out of this book. I'm so so sorry, but I'm not finishing the entirety of this story. This story has grown so much, more than I ever thought possible, so I owe it to you all to at least write the ending.(Continuing from the flashback) Sun has his first day as a daycare attendent and it is a fun chaotic day with one tiny problem. Moon.
Sun and Moon have their first sucessful day as daycare attendents. Moon reveals he sees Sun as the idiot version of himself and hates being the daycare attendent, thinking children are stupid. Over time Sun shows Moon children are not stupid and Moon stops seeing Sun as the idiot version of himself and sees him a seperate, amazing being, one who he soon gains feelings for.
Back to present time: Moon gets more and more anxious as Valentine's day gets closer. Many of his doubts and fears posion his mind.
The day of valentines day they give the goody bags to the children and it is fun day that goes on without conflict. That is, until the pizzeria closes for the day.
(Imma write the last piece caz it is the only thing I somewhat have motivation to do)
Moon sat on his bed, his knees up to his chest. Sun was busy frantically adding glitter glue and various other decorations to his valentine cards and Rowdy was somewhere roaming around the pizzaplex because, due to him becoming the mascot of the new funhouse, he had to greet new visitors. Moon stared at his valentine card for Sun, rereading it for what seemed like the millionth time. He sighed and looked away from the valentine card. He couldn't do it, he knew Sun wouldn't feel the same. As if the thought summoned him, Sun popped his head out of the tunnel between his and Moon's room. "Hey Moony, you want some glitter glue for your card?" Sun offered with a bright smile. "No thanks," replied Moon simply. Sun's smile faded. "Are you okay?" Sun asked with a look of worry. "I'm fine, don't worry about me you have to finish decorating your cards," Moon replied. "Moon, you're a lot more important than the cards, and something's obviously wrong," Sun said, crawling out of the tunnel and sitting next to Moon. "This is about your crush isn't it?" Sun asked, noticing the card in Moon's hand. "I can't do it, there's no way they're gonna feel the same, and they're probably gonna hate me afterwards," Moon said. Sun sighed and looked at Moon. "Moon, I don't think anything I will say can convince you otherwise but I bet your crush loves you. Maybe not in the way that you hope, but someone that truly loves you could never hate you for something like that. Anyone who knows you would love you, your an amazing person and anyone who can't see that doesn't deserve you!" Sun said, crossing his arms. "Do you... really think that?" Moon asked. "Yeah, of course!" Sun chirped. Moon smiled. "Thanks Sun that.. did help actually," Moon said gratefully. "So then, how do you feel about confessing to your crush?" Sun asked enthusiastically. "I think even if they don't feel the same, it'll be fine," said Moon. "Good! I'm gonna finish my cards now! Make sure to stay positive!" Chirped Sun with a smile, standing up and approaching the tunnel. "Wait Sun, I have a question," Moon said. "Yes?" Sun asked, twirling around. "Are you going to confess to your crush too?" Moon asked. Sun smile faultered, he seemed taken aback by the question. "Um, no because... well I don't think they'll feel the same either..." Sun mumbled. "Did you really just give me a whole speech about my crush not feeling the same and do the same thing yourself, you hipocrite?" Moon asked. Sun chuckled. "Yeah I guess I did... I'm just scared things will change between us..." Said Sun, sitting back down. "Change happens all the time, avoiding it doesn't stop it. Actually if anything, this might strengthen your relationship from being open with them," Moon said. "Yeah, you're right," admitted Sun. "You know what, I'm gonna do it!" Said Sun, standing up again. "Thank you Moony!" Said Sun, hugging Moon.
Rowdy crawled through the tunnel at that moment. "Why is there so much (gawddang) glitterglue?" He asked. "Sorry, I was decorating my valentines cards!" Sun said with a smile. "You do know the pizzaplex closes in like 10 minutes right?" Rowdy asked. "10 MINUTES?! Excuse me, I have to finish my cards!" Sun squeaked, scrambling through the tunnel back to his room.
Moon glared at Rowdy as he sat on the bed beside him. "So then, you gonna confess to him?" Rowdy asked, glancing at Moon's card. "Yes, and it's not a competition. If he wants to be with you, I won't intervene, but promise me something," Moon said seriously, looking at Rowdy. "What?" asked Rowdy, giving Moon a side glance. "Take care of him and treat him well. Do you promise to do that?" Moon asked. Rowdy turned his head to fully face Moon. "You'd actually be fine with me dating Sun?" Rowdy asked, looking confused.
Just then a loud noise came from outside. "COME ON GUYS HURRY UP WERE GOING OVER TO DJ'S!" Shouted Gregory. Moon and Rowdy went through the tunnel to find Sun frantically gathering his valentine cards. "Did you guys get your cards?" Sun asked, without looking at them. "Yep," said Moon. "Yeah," said Rowdy.
They all climbed down the ladder with their cards. Miraculously, Sun didn't drop any of them. "Come on guys!" Said Gregory as they reached the door. The west arcade was littered with Valentines day decorations. Every inch of the wall was covered in hearts of all different shades of red, pink, purple and white. Streamers hung from all over the ceiling, consisting of the same hearts. Loud music made the room vibrate, not at all matching the decorations. They were the last ones there. Everyone was socializing near the dance floor. Sun began handing out his valentine cards to everyone. Rowdy glanced at Moon for a moment then walked away, disappearing into the crowd. Moon went away from the crowd and leaned against the wall. He wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone.
All he had to do was just confess, it was that easy, he had been told so many times he could do it... but he couldn't. It should be easy, but it isn't. He should be able to do it, but he can't. He just can't. Moon held the card to his chest and breathed out a sigh. Someone could tell him a million times he could do it but nothing would change. It would be a never ending cycle. He couldn't do it.
"Just stop thinking and give him the card," said a voice. Moon whirled his head around. Gregory had appeared next to him. He was holding a wine cup filed with root beer and ice cream. He must've been too lost in his thoughts to notice. "I know you have a crush on Sun, I'm not that stupid," said Gregory. "How did you-" Moon began. "You have been pining over him all this time and just now you were staring at him, lost in thought or something," Gregory said, sipping his root beer like it was wine. "Oh, I was? I didn't even know," Moon said, flushing in embarrassment. "Just stop thinking so hard over what's gonna happen, if you keep doing that you're gonna stop living. Get out of your head," said Gregory. "But what if he-" Moon started. "Nope, shut up, go tell him and forget consequences exist," Gregory said sternly. "Fine I'll..." Moon paused as he noticed Rowdy leading Sun away from the crowd. "What is he doing?" He asked himself. "Probably about to ask Sun out, it's now or never," answered Gregory. Moon started to walk after them, walking fast enough to catch up to them, but not fast enough to reveal how panicked he was. Rowdy and Sun disapeared behind a wall, and Moon peeked around the edge of the wall. They had stopped. Moon jerked his head back out of sight, hoping neither of them had seen him. Neither them seemed to be aware of his presence. "So, why did you wanna talk over here?" Sun asked. "Well, I just wanted to ask you something," Rowdy said. Moon hoped he didn't know what he was going to ask. "I know we didn't meet that long ago, but you are very special and will you be my boyfriend?" Rowdy asked.
Moon's heart nearly stopped. Everything seemed to fade around him. The pounding music faded to more than a whisper, and the black and white tiles seemed to blur. He could feel his mechanical heart beating loud in his ears. The moment he feared had finally come. He couldn't do this. He couldn't be here.
Moon started sprinting toward the daycare. He needed to get away from the moment. All he could hear now were Rowdy's words bouncing through his head. Everyday he would have to wake up and see Rowdy with Sun. Everyday he would have to live with the regret of not telling him. Everyday that tiny secret would corrode him like acid. Everyday he would know that that could've been him.
He burst through the daycare doors and scrambled up the ladder. He crawled through the tunnel and into his room. He curled up into a ball into the corner. The regrets continued pouring in from every corner of his mind, threatening to drown him. He doesn't know how long he sat there. He doesn't know if he cried. He probably did, but he doesn't remember. He just sat there in the corner.
He heard a sound. Someone was crawling through the tunnel. He launched himself up and forced himself hide how he really felt. Rowdy's head popped out of the tunnel. Moon frowned. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "Oh, were you expecting someone else?" Rowdy asked. Moon rolled his eyes and stared at the wall in the opposite direction of Rowdy. "Why didn't you give it to him?" Rowdy asked. "Give him wh-" Moon stopped as he realized Sun's card was still in his hand. He though he would've dropped it in the blind run to his room. "It doesn't matter," said Moon. "Why not?" Rowdy asked. "You know why, you already asked him and he said yes, I never had a chance, I could never bring myself to ask him..." Moon said. "He didn't say yes, you idiot," Rowdy said. "What? Why?" Moon asked. "He said he has feelings for someone else, and I respect that..." said Rowdy. "Did he... tell you who it was?" Moon asked. Rowdy stared at him. "You are the densest person I have ever met." Said Rowdy. "uh-" "EVEN MONTY KNOWS WHO HIS CRUSH IS AND HE HAS A SPECK OF DUST FOR A BRAIN!!!" Rowdy yelled. "Moon? Are in you here?" Called Sun from outside. "Well, I'll see myself out, if you can't figure out who Sun's crush is then you have less of a brain than Monty," said Rowdy, crawling out through the tunnel. "Yeah, he's in there," Rowdy called to Sun.
Moon sat down on his bed. There was no avoiding it now. He was going to have to tell Sun how he felt. Sun crawled through the tunnel. "I was gonna give you your Valentines card, but I didn't know where you were and Gregory said he saw you run off, are you okay?" Sun asked. "Yeah, I'm fine," said Moon. "So, why'd you run off?" Sun asked. Moon looked away. He wanted to tell him, but he couldn't. "It's ok, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to. Oh, before I forget, here's your card!" Chirped Sun, holding out a heart shaped piece of paper. It was a redish magenta color with bright pink glitterglue bordering it. There was a message written on it in white crayon. For Moon.
Happy Valentines Day Moony! I hope you have an awesome valentines day! And about your crush; I know no matter how much reassureance I give you, you won't believe me, but I know for a fact your crush loves you. Your an amazing person, so whether your crush loves you platonically or romantically, they'll still want you to stay in their life. I love you Moony and I know your crush does too!
Love,
SunMoon's face went red. Sun loved him? His heart sank a little. No, he meant platonically. He still smiled. "Thanks, Sun," said Moon, hugging Sun. Sun smiled brightly. They broke from the hug. "So, you still didn't give it to your crush?" Sun asked, motioning to Moon's card. "No..." He said. "oh..." Said Sun. Moon looked at Sun. He looked sorry... and... sad? "Sun, why do you look sad? Are you okay?" Moon asked. "I'm fine, I just wish there was a way I could help you..." Sun said sadly. He had to do it. Moon had to give him the card. Sun had made it clear all this time he had no intentions of leaving Moon, regardless of how he felt. And Moon couldn't stand to see Sun upset because of him. Moon thrust the card at Sun, looking away. Sun looked confused for a second. "Oh! Do you want me to give it to your crush?" Sun asked. "No... It's... for you," Moon mumbled. Sun blushed, his eyes widening. He took the card from Moon and read it.
Dear Sun,
I love you. More than a best friend. I have for a long time now. You're the most amazing person I've ever met. You're the reason I get up in the morning. Everyday, I live to see you smile and just... well, be you! So... If nothing lasts forever, will you be my nothing? I'm sorry that was so cheesy... I'm not a poet. But what I mean to say is will you be my valentine?
-MoonSun stared at the card in pure amazment. He was Moon's crush? And Moon wanted him to be his Valentine? Sun couldn't believe it. He smiled and looked at Moon. Moon was hunched over, staring at the ground in defeat. "Moony!" Sun called. Moon looked up. Sun launched himself on him in a big hug. "YES!" Sun squealed. "Yes what?" Moon asked, astounded. "I'll be your nothing and your Valentine!" said Sun. "Really?" Moon asked. "Of course!" Sun said. "So all this time, you had a crush on.. me?" Moon asked. "Yep!" Chirped Sun. "So we really both just had a crush on each other this whole time?" Moon said. "Yeah, I guess so!" Sun giggled. "Oh, and sorry about the card I'll try to make it less cheesy next time," said Moon. "Awww, but it like cheesy stuff!" said Sun. "Ok, guess I'll put a lot of cheesy stuff in it next time!" Said Moon. Sun giggled and pulled away from the hug, still staying close to Moon. Sun put his hand on Moon's. "I love you Moony," he said softly. "I love you too, sunshine," said Moon, moving closer to Sun. They were now right next to each other, their faces almost close enough to touch. "um.. Can I-" Moon was cut off as Sun closed the distance between their faces. Finally after every close kiss, every hand touch, every second they had pined for each other, they were together at last.
