Season 8- Cole and Y/n focus
It had been a long day for the Ninja; they'd just gotten back to the Bounty on the harbor after once again searching for their Master Wu. He'd gotten lost in a time stream 10 months ago thanks to the Time Twins, Krux and Acronix. The Ninja were losing hope, but they refused to give up so easily.
Unfortunately, Lloyd and Nya were still finishing up their search for that night so it was just the original four Ninja in the Bounty, at least for the time being.
The Ninja got settled, and sat down on the deck of the Bounty in their pajamas as Kai lit a small lantern, placing it in front of him and his brother. "Ah, now this is nice." Jay sighed, leaning back on his hands as he rested his head back. "I will admit." Zane started, smiling. "I have missed nights like this. It reminds me of the nights we would have when it was just the four of us, all sharing the same room." He chuckled, remembering, making Kai and Jay snicker as well. "You're right." Kai laughed. "Those days were great."
"Right. Like the time you managed to convince yourself that you were the green Ninja." Jay snorted, making Kai huff and gasp. "Hey! You weren't any better! Any of you!" He shot back, causing the laughter to pick up again. However, Cole wasn't laughing. It was like he was lost in a deep thought; his eyebrows furrowed as he stared off into the fire in front of him. Zane quickly picked up on his behavior.
"Cole, is everything alright?" He asked, making Jay and Kai stop as well. "If you wish for us to stop talking about this subject we can-" "No, no, no. Don't." Cole spoke, looking away from the fire. "I like hearing about the old days." He chuckled after saying that. "The old days, it's weird saying that now." "Damn, yeah." Jay sighed, though it was clear that something was still taking up space in Cole's mind. "Cole, if something is troubling you, you can tell us." Zane told him, making the Master of Earth sigh.
"There's not...I mean." He tried to gather his thoughts. "Talking about... the older days, made me think of when I was younger." He started, looking down at his hands as he rubbed his palm with his thumb as he thought. "I had this friend-" "You had a friend?" Kai chuckled, trying to make a joke. "Heh, yeah hard to believe." Cole sarcastically shot back. "Yeah, I had this friend when I was younger. She-"
"Ooo, it was a she!" Jay teased, smirking at Cole who couldn't help but smile in return. "Shhh!" Zane quickly shushed him. "Let him continue." Cole nodded to Zane, saying a silent thank you. "As I was saying, when I was younger, I had this friend. I don't remember much about her, except that she was really cool, and was the kindest, sweetest person you'd ever met." He spoke, thinking of the little girl he barely remembered.
"What did she look like? If I'm allowed to ask." Jay asked, eyeing Zane who rolled his eyes. "Uhhhh." Cole thought, trying to picture her. "She was slightly shorter than me. She had these great big green eyes which reminded me of freshly cut grass. Oh and her hair: it was blonde and, heh, really fluffy." He chuckled, still rubbing his hand. "Sounds like Lloyd." Kai bluntly said, earning looks from his brothers. "What? Green eyes and blonde hair? She might as well be related to him." He joked
"She definitely wasn't. My mom was friends with her mom, and she definitely didn't look like Misako." Cole went on, making Kai roll his eyes that his brother had taken his joke seriously. "So, this girl's mother was your mothers friend?" Zane wondered, and Cole nodded. "Yeah. She looked a lot like her mom actually." "Huh." Jay hummed. "What?" Cole asked. "Just thinking. Your mom was the Elemental Master of Earth before you, right?" Jay went on, earning nods. "What if this girl is an Elemental Master, like the rest of us?" Jay suggested. Making Zane think for a moment.
"I highly doubt it. We have previously met all the Elemental Masters of the known elements. Those of course are: fire, earth, lightning, water, energy, wind, metal, mind, nature, time, amber, form, speed, light, shadow, smoke, poison, gravity, sound and...ice. There are no more elemental powers she could possibly. have" Zane said, listing information he really didn't need to, yet proved Jay's point was false. "You didn't have to go that far to prove me wrong." Jay huffed, resting his head against his hand.
"What about a split element? I mean we saw it with the Time Twins." Kai added, however, Zane disproved it again. "That has only occurred once, and the only way we know that happened was because Krux and Acronix were twins. As well as that, we know very little about split elements and the nature of them. I calculate the odds of that being the case at 1.034%." He explained, making Kai sigh and yawn while he and Jay shared glances.
"I dunno, Jay could be right." "What?" The three other boys said in unison. "I mean, from what I can remember, my mom and her mom went off on missions a lot. I don't remember her having any abilities though." "Wait, isn't it possible for elemental powers to skip generations?" Kai wondered again. "Yes, it is. Perhaps that was the case with your friend's mother." Zane confirmed, seeing that as a possibility. "Well then, if that is what happened, what element would she have?" Kai wondered, which got all of them thinking, but whatever they thought, it just didn't add up.
"Whatever element she did...or, does have, we've either never heard of it, or something happened for there to be two masters of the same element." Cole concluded. "Which means she could have any then." Jay sighed. "Precisely. Though, as I said, the odds of that occurring are close to zero." Zane said, looking down at his own hands in thought. "But not zero." Kai sighed, making Zane nod. "Let us hope we may find her one day. If she does have a new element, then it will be something extraordinary. If not, then we will still treat her with respect." "Oh yeah definitely." Jay responded, leaning back against his hands again.
"I do hope I see her again someday. I wonder if she even remembers me." Cole sighed, making Kai place a hand on his shoulder. "She might after talking with her for a while, and if she doesn't, then you can just jog her memory. Y'know, tell her the stuff you remember from back then." "Yeah, I guess you're right." Cole responded before chuckling. "I don't even remember her name." "We got that much." Jay snickered. "We've been calling her she and her for the past 6 minutes."
"Whatever her name is, I'm sure we will find her. I for one would like to meet her. She sounds like a wonderful person." Zane spoke, wearing a smile. "Zane, Cole's been describing this girl from when they were, what four? Time can change a person." Kai told him, which was true. "I understand that...but, maybe she is still kind-hearted, like Cole described." The Nindroid responded, looking over to his friend for confirmation. "I don't know, but I do hope she is. I don't think anything could change how she was." He spoke, thinking of the girl who put a soft smile on his face.
"She was...amazing..."
Cole lent against the courtyard doorway, watching as Zane was helping Y/n with her training. He demonstrated by throwing a high kick, and stood back to let the girl try. She recited the move in her head, and went for it, only when she did she lost her footing and fell.
Zane immediately knelt down to help her, but the girl just laughed at her mistake. The Nindroid wasn't immune to her laughter, and found himself chuckling as he offered her a hand, lifting her back to her feet so she could try again.
Cole smiled as he let out a breath, realizing in that moment, he'd found his old friend.
