The two women climbed off the bus together, arms locked tight, amongst the throngs of others seeking an escape from their lives. Asa was not a fan of the slow, smelly bus nor was she a fan of the wandering eyes enjoying her and Shells' ensembles for the evening. Cold wet flakes had just begun falling, kissing their heated faces. Asa let go of Shells, to tug her coat closer to her body, keeping the warmth in.
Shells had vaguely explained on the ride over that she'd met a guy a few months ago that was looking for dancers for this club's VIP clientele. She said that she was being paid a grand a night plus tips for doing private dances for these Elite clients. Tonight the client requested two dancers and was willing to pay triple the cost. The thought of what she would have to do inside that less-than respectable establishment made Asa nauseous, but Shells had reassured her that it was "tasteful" ... whatever that meant. However, the important thing to consider was the payout. Just a few dances like this a month would be enough to keep Asa afloat so she could finish school, pay off her debt and move on in the spring. Just a handful of dances like this, and she could put this all behind her as a funny memory that she shared with her crazy roommate from school.
Her stomach continued to toss and a shiver ran up her spine as they approached the club door. Shells spoke to a big, burly guy at the door, and he disappeared inside presumably to get instructions for these two shivering, stilleto-clad young women. After a brief wait filled with a grumbling Asa pulling at her dress and a confident Shells whispering in reassuring tones, an even larger man appeared. A huge bull of a man clad in heavy black armor, abruptly opened the door. "Follow me." He ordered.
They did as instructed and followed hulk into the filled club, through a throng of people dancing and drinking, the world non-existent around them. They entered an all golden flecked marble elevator hidden behind a corner under the sweeping staircase. Her frozen feet were slowly starting to thaw and Asa allowed herself to search for the positive. After all, at least they didn't have to climb the stairs in heels that could be used as weapons. Once they reached the third floor, they were ushered from the elevator quickly, pushing the roommates in front of him. Asa and Shells were taken to a closed black door with an engraved stone wolf head.
It opened revealing a man with slicked back silver hair, sitting in a high-back chair. "What are they feeding people here?!" Asa whispered to Shells as they were met with yet another giant, looming figure. Shells merely giggled in the direction of this new host, clearly working to ignore her roommate. Asa continued to scan the room and counted no less than another three mammoth guards.
When the host-figure saw them, he stood more gracefully than most men his size should be able to. With a charming baritone, he instructed them to stand before him and remove their coats for his guards to take. "Please don't be afraid, just do as you're told and this will all be over soon." He spoke with such dominance, they instantly felt powerless against him. Asa began to second-guess being here but the click of the door closing behind them, informed her that she'd missed any opportunity to back out. They would have to do as he'd instructed.
