It was dark when we arrived at the border. Trina gave me a hopeful glance, then transformed into a furry white wolf.

“So you showed up,” Tar was suddenly in front of us.

“Yeah. To stop you,” I chuckled.

My friend glowered at me. “Who’s the wolf?” He looked at Trina, who laid her ears flat.

“Uhh… Rina,” I answered. “Decided I wanted a dog.”

“I’m surprised,” Tar stepped forward from the mist, his blue eyes practically glowing. “It seems to unusual for you to want a friend,” he grinned. His whole attitude was beginning to unnerve me.

“How’d you afford that collar?” The vampire gestured to the necklace, sending me into confusion.

“Where are all your raid friends?” I asked, my voice cracking. Blast.

“Oh, they’re here,” Tar laughed, and pain suddenly slammed into my head.

My conscious failing, I watched as two vampires pinned down Trina, tearing the necklace from her neck. As soon as it was off, she turned back into a fairy. Tar laughed vilely, then walked up to her, snatching her from the ground by her wings.

“Seth!” She screamed as she was flung into a cage.

“Tr…” I tried to get up, but it all went black.

Hyperventilating, I feebly clung to the bars of my prison. As the cage swung back and forth in the hands of Tar, I could see some vampires tie up Seth, carrying him along behind us.

I fell down as the cage was raised into the air, my eyes meeting Tar’s. He grinned wildly, his fangs sharp and white. “You’ll bring a high price for sure,” He said. All I could do was tensely press up against the side of the cage.

Torch lights joined the party, and we were soon at the stone tower where Teron dwelled. I wanted to pass out, yet also wished to know what would happen next. Unfortunately, I fainted, becoming a limp figure in a cage.

When I awoke, I was tied up directly above a boiling cauldron.

“What a surprise!” Teron appeared, throwing his head back, laughing.

I struggled, terror seeping through me.

“Sadly, this is the only way I’ll be able to get Seth to subdue to my wishes,” He waved his hand about.

Looking to my left, I could see Seth. He was bound to a chair, a violet glow flowing about the ropes that tied him. I tried to scream, but a gag was covering my mouth. I could only wait.

As I came to, Teron entered my line of sight, and beside him, a cauldron with Trina dangling above on a string.

“What the – what are you doing?” I shouted, my face red.

“This is your fault, you know. If you hadn’t been so stubborn, it wouldn’t have come to this,” He motioned to Trina, who gave me a pale look.

“Let her go,” I demanded, trying to break free.

“Alright, but I never do anything without a trade…”

“What do you want?” I hissed.

“You give me your powers.” A villainous smirk crossed his face.

“Never!” I shouted.

“Whoops,” Teron let the string holding Trina fall dangerously close to the blazing hot water. She gave a muffled cry.
