I gave another kick against the pavement as my skate board continued its roll down the now empty road. It had been a long day, a long day filled with recordings and UHC, I was exhausted and sleep deprived but the need to feel wind in my hair had got the best of me. Skate boarding gave me that free and happy feeling I often searched for in everyday life but was unable to find being cooped up inside all day. I tried to get out of the house as often as I could but as my channel grew the subscribers expected more from me, better, longer, high quality videos that making didn't give me a lot of free time. The little free time I did get was spent cleaning, and talking to my friends. I mean my friends made me happy but they didn't give me that free feeling that skating did.

Like always my skating expedition ended all too quickly as I skirted to a stop in front of the same old apartment building that had come all too familiar in the last year. Picking up my skate board I stopped, there, in the front of my apartment building, in the middle of a city, was an acorn. This was a huge surprise to me as there weren't many trees in Melbourne if any; the few I had seen were the little shrubs outside buildings. The very sight of it struck me with home sickness that had become a common feeling to me in the past month. Looking around I quickly scooped up the acorn and tucked it into my back pocket, a little reminder of freedom, I thought. Stepping into the apartment building I noticed something out of place, Mitchell, he was standing right at the elevator door, waiting for me.

"Nice night, ain't it?"

Mitchell said, a faraway look glistening his eye. Surprised by his sudden presence I just stared at him for a moment, confused by his faraway look.

"Yeah I guess it a nice night."

I responded, still confused by him waiting for me, this whole situation felt weird and set up, like a sit com. The very fact that he was in pajamas in a public lobby was weird enough, but the eerie silence of the night just added to it.

"Almost makes you want to look up into the night sky and dream."

He said, his voice barely a whisper. I cracked a smile, thinking he was sleep deprived as well and was now sputtering out weird, deep, nonsense, that wasn't usual for Mitch.

"Don't get all deep and meaningful on me now Mitch, save that for Twitter."

I responded, lightly punching him in the arm as I walked past him and into the elevator. He stood frozen for second, as if my touch had paralyzed him.

"Yeah I guess."

He mumbled quietly with his head down as he walked into the elevator.

In the apartment I watched as Mitch sulked into his dark room and me into mine, slowly closing the door and flopping into my bed. My mind was jumbled with worried and thoughts about my life and where it was heading. I wished my thoughts would just shut up sometimes, I had nothing to worry or complain about, my life was great. As the thoughts continued they drifted toward the acorn as I began to search my pockets for it. Pulling it I took a good long look at it, small and round it seemed almost perfect, like little runaway leaf that had found its happiness in the wind.
